sorry for the typos in my post. Do you live in Maryland? Did you call Montgomery college and do you have a criminal record? I'm just curious. I can't seem to get in touch with anyone regarding this matter. I just want to know if I will have a hard time getting accepted into a nursing school with this on my background. I did have it expunged 3 years ago. I hate the mbon site because they seem to give you very little information about this. I know in ohio if you have 2 misdemeanors in theft (I only have one) then you are automatically banned to sit for the nclex. Im not sure if its the same in Maryland
Contact the BON directly; if you are not comfortable using your name then do it with an anonymous e-mail.
However, keep in mind that the BON may say that they won't give you an answer until you apply and provide all documentation about your convictions. But at least you can find out if the answer is "maybe" instead of "no", because there's still a chance with "maybe."

You will have to directly contact the BON as instructed above. Normally, BON will not address any issue until you come up for licensure.
Update: I am able to take the class! I spoke with the owner of the CNA school today. Although I am excited I still have this crazy feeling. I hate that I have to go through this but it is what it is, right? I hate making excuses for myself and I hate that this has happened to me. Its embarrassing to say the least. I know that I am NOT a thief and I wouldn't steal anything from anyone. I'm not going to let this stop me from pursing a career in nursing, but I will have many back up plans.I wish the best to anyone who know what i feel like. its bitter sweet
I got into MC and for some reason my background did not come up but it did for licensing and jobs. When you apply for your CNA or RN be honest about the charges and describe the information to with reference letters. I had to face the board to get my license and they gave it to me. Believe it was fate or luck because now I am having trouble finding a job. I have a few more charges than you that were 9 years ago. Best of luck.

I have one misdemeanor theft (7years) and I am wondering if someone can help me find a clearance check list that automatically excludes certain convictions from becoming a RN/CNA in maryland. I have checked their website and can't find anything! I just moved here from ohio and want to become a CNA and then a RN. Have anyone here been excepted to Montgomery college RN program with a criminal history? this is getting discouraging
