Does anybody know about MLK hospital?i'm looking forward to working with them next year.Any first hand information about the working condition and reputation of this hospital. your input will be of big help.

thanks,

MLK in Los Angeles? If it's that one, it has an absolutely terrible reputation. We call it "Killer King". They recruit a lot of foreign nurses and travellers because they can't get many locals to work there and they are always going through some nasty administrative stuff.

thanks for the info.what hosp can you recommend?

In LA? I've heard good things about Cedars Sinai and UCLA, but I don't work in LA myself.

I did not work there personaly but I know a traveler that did. He lasted one shift and then ran from there. He said that the McD's across the streat from there had bullit proff glass. Not a good rep around town!

if you search on the california thread, theres plenty been said about this hospital.

I worked there this past summer and let me give you the run down. MLK has a ton of issues with JCAHO and were about to close down. So there are a ton of travelers who work there because no one from the area will. It has a bad wrap indeed (just do a google search to find out), but if you can get past that and look at it as a learning experience you will like it. It has gotten a lot better from what I hear. I met some of the coolest people while working there. The doc's are a little slow, but overall very nice. The regular staff that is there are appreciative to you for help and are nice. In the beginning I thought what did I get myself into, but now as I look back, it was one of the best experiences I have had.

thanks for the info.as of now i'm still waiting for an interview call.i don't know what's wrong with my qualification, does it need to be all 4's in checklist for you to get the job?thanks

MLK is still being surveyed by both federal and state agencies. They keep failing on some things. It's a big hospital, not a very good area though. But if its experience you're looking for, you'll get plenty here. But you just ned to constantly watch your license. Kelan ang start date mmo?

i haven't not been called for interview but i told my agency that i'm not accepting if ever,i'm now working on completing my requirements for Cedar Cinnai and huntington.still shopping around. i'm head over hills excited to go there but i don't have employer yet

if you're refering to the mlk hospital in california- also called "killer king" aka king drew; the only words of advisement i can give u is to run like richard pryor on fire- that place is an absoulute terror! every nurse working in there is at an increase risk of losing his/her nursing license- it's too disorganized and ethically unsafe.
