I would contact California and New York state boards. It does take a long time for New York endorsement, especially from CA...up to six weeks or so they say. I will working in New York City starting January 8, and I do not have my New York license as of yet, and believe me I call them nearly everyday. So just call them and see what's up...

Every place you go is going to have its downfalls, however I wouldn't let that worry me too much. I started off working in a "snobby" hospital and I think I will be able to adjust if in fact that is the case, but I don't care, I am more excited with just being in NYC as should you! Just keep a positive attitude and do you thing and don't sweat the small stuff.

Hi guys, I just accepted and offer for the PACU/ICU at new york presby starting in january. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or comments about the facility and traveling in nyc. I went with cross country, i know they are not the best, but for nyc they were the front runners. I feel pretty confident, i know what to ask for and how to get it, so hopefully things run smoothly. I am super excited and can hardly wait!!!! so share advice if you have any! thanks:w00t:

I worked there this past summer and let me give you the run down. MLK has a ton of issues with JCAHO and were about to close down. So there are a ton of travelers who work there because no one from the area will. It has a bad wrap indeed (just do a google search to find out), but if you can get past that and look at it as a learning experience you will like it. It has gotten a lot better from what I hear. I met some of the coolest people while working there. The doc's are a little slow, but overall very nice. The regular staff that is there are appreciative to you for help and are nice. In the beginning I thought what did I get myself into, but now as I look back, it was one of the best experiences I have had.
