:cool: does anybody who have been through marikina valley's step by step procedure to volunteer nurse? how was it? how is it done? what was the exam content? and the interview?

Hi guys! Im just new here.. is there anyone knows w/c hosptal offers BLS or iv training? the cheapest one? im located in pasig and im working in the fort.. is there anyone can help me w/c hosptal accepts volunteer nurse or with fee? how much is it? i appreciate if someone will reply! thanks a lot!

I just inquired to Marikina Valley Medical Center last thursday to past my resume along with my certificates... When I passed it to the HR, she told me that my requirements were not yet complete :( so she gave me a piece of paper with the exact requirements needed. So Guys take a look :)

-Letter of Intent (addressed to the Chief Nurse- Ms. ********* RN MAN)

-Comprehensive Resume

-Diploma & TOR

-Board Certificate and PRC license

-Certificate of Passing & Board Rating

-BLS/ACLS Training Certificate

-Birth Certificate

-PNA membership (2011)

-IVT Certificate and License

-Marriage Contract (if applicable)

-NBI or police clearance

-ID Picture- Blue Background (2 copies 1x1 & 2 copies of 2x2)

-SSS Form E-1

Note: Submit photocopy of all requirements (updated) in a Blue Long sliding folder. And Bring all original documents with you

Guys complete all your requirements because they will not get your resume!!

hi! for those who were able to enter the training in Marikina Valley, would you mind sharing your experiences? (if it's okey with you! hehe! ) how was the training? how long did you wait from submission of requirements to your exam then to your interviews? to which area were you asigned? and if ever you were absorbed, how long did you wait? thnx in advance for those who would find to answer... ^_^

I just wanted to share my experience in MVMC while answering as many questions as possible.

MVMC is a tertiary hospital with 100 bed capacity. The facilities are very nice and modern, although sometimes it could be hot as hell (aircon is not yet centralized).

They are strict in the completeness of the requirements, although if you have to renew something like the PNA card, they would give you a deadline. I got a call from HR and took the exam with about 10 others. The exam was very hard, the computations were a mix between very basic and very complex, calculators not allowed. :crying2: Not all the questions have answers. Me and my best friend took up the exam but I was the only one who got called for an interview.

After the exam there were 4 interviews that followed: theNursing Supervisors (nursing questions), the Chief Nurse (personal questions) the first question she asked me was "do you have a boyfriend?" :eek: haha which kinda floored me a little, but she was very kind, next is the Medical Director (nursing dilemmas), then finally the Hospital Director, he was in a hurry that day so all he got to ask was which school we were from. They also ask at the interviews which area would you like to be assigned and the experiences you had from previous hospitals.

After passing all of it, there are two weeks of lectures in which you will learn everything that was in the exam. Then 3 months duty; 1 month for special areas and 15 days for ward. Every volunteer gets the chance to rotate at a special area and a ward. The experience was very worth it. I know they would tell you in orientation that you can't do this and that, but I ended up doing most of them, :D just as long as you tell your senior about it. This was where I got good at IV insertion. I bursted 3 veins at the wards so I begged my supervisor to assign me at ER, by the end of my duty at ER I was able to insert for pedia patients :yeah:

The 3 months volunteer is not only to enhance your nursing skills, but to prepare you for hiring as well. Besides the nursing work they will also teach you the administrative side to it, like how to fill up and manage the different forms.

Here are a few tips. Have the initiative. Granted the vitals signs taking will be given to you, but dont sit around waiting for somebody to order you around. Accompany the staff when they give medication, or do nursing procedures, and when the chance comes up ask them nicely if you can do it instead. When there's absolutely nothing to do, go do something, anything...Make cotton balls, cut medication cards, its not your duty and its not much but little things can help in big ways... and it makes you look good. :cool:

Also, stay away from gossip, dont **** off anybody, some doctors flirt, and it would surprise you that by tomorrow the whole hospital would know about it. (100bed capacity, so generally everybody knows everybody)

The batches before had night allowances, meaning you get paid 100 pesos for every night duty, so sometimes every 15 days you get to cash out 200-700 depending on how many night duties you have. Sadly, there isnt a night allowance anymore, the new batch had to pay 3000 (1k/mon) to volunteer. Sad :crying2:

I would still recommend MVMC, I learned a lot, there is also a fast turn around, a month after we finished training 2 of my batchmates are already hired. Its really a good experience. :redbeathe

Actually my application as a staff/trainee nurse at MVMC was totally unexpexted. This morning I went to "The Medical City" at meralco ave. Pasig to pass my resume, unfortunately they didnt accept my resume but instead they let me write my name, address and board rating in a form along with other applicants. Along our way home our car passedby in marikina and we saw this MVMC hospital... my father told me to pass my resume (since I have 9 extras haha! and theres no harm in trying).

When I went in HR Dept I saw their list of requirements in the frontdoor, and luckily its all in my bag (good thing I always bring my documents). After looking for a xerox machine and looking for a photo studio I immediately passed all my requirements on a folder. I was about to say thank you and leave when the HR gal told me to preapare for an exam... (I said to myself "exam?! wth i didnt review!" haha!). It was about 1pm when I took the exam and finished it at 3... and what can I say about the test?? damn its hard... especially the other half of computation! idk where to get the supposed to be given values! haha! then here comes the essay! *** watch out for ur grammar! and then the never ending abstract and bunch of logical mind twisting questions.... :D and dont forget the funny psych test hahaha i remember a question asking if I hear voices when im alone... as if im like a psycho...

When I finished the exam I was so eager to go home to change my clothes since its so hot in the spot where I took the exam. Same scenario I was again about to leave when the HR girl told me that I should wait for an interview. What? interview? I dont even know what questions will be asked... zzzz... ok ive waited and then the interview started, she asked me to explain bunch of cases... luckily I was able to answer haha! afterwards she told me that I should comeback on friday for another interview and that I should be in a formal attire.

And all those things happened in just 1day... on the spot exam and interview... but its worth it! now all I have to do is pass all the other interviews... What I can say about all the personnel in MVMC??? they're all accomodating and kind!!! I wish all hospitals are like them haha!

To all those who are planning to apply in MVMC and other hospitals... one piece of advice... dont forget to PRAY!!! u dont know when the opportunity will come... always ask for guidance... and pass as many resume as possible haha! anyways I just passed my NLE last Dec2011 so im just a fresh grad like most of u... goodluck to us!
