Maricopa Wait List Question

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hello, (I hope this is the right place to post) I was wondering if anyone could tell me or approximate where I might be on the waiting list. My time/date stamp is 12/09 8:03, and I've filled out all five choices. I think there were about 2100 people on the waiting list then. And does the 3 to 4 semester wait count summer semester, or only fall and spring semesters?

Also, I didn't want to spend the next year or so not taking any nursing classes, since I've done all my pre-reqs and co-reqs. Are there any CNA courses starting in the summer, I might apply to?

Thanks for your help. :)

Actually, the spaces for CEP students are already deducted from the numbers shown on the placement page. SCC can take 90 total students per cohort. But on the placement page, it will only show roughly 60. This is because the other 30 are either CEP or from a hospital affiliated with SCC.

I think that's what she was trying to tell the other poster as well because the numbers on the page right now are for fall placement not spring. So I believe she was trying to explain that just because a campus takes 30, doesn't mean that will be all from the wait list because the CEP students are placed first and will drastically reduce that number.

Edited to add:

For example, EMCC takes 30 per cohort, but for fall placement they are only taking 2 off the wait list. The rest was occupied by CEP applicants etc.

So if I am not in the CEP program, my placement may take much longer?

Yes it can take longer. That's why it would be ideal to complete the co reqs for the CEP program while you wait to be placed.

It could be, but in general the wait list has decreased a lot. Like I said, my stamp was August 2014 and they just tried placing me for fall from the wait list. I'm not going to take it because I'm doing the CEP. But I looked at the application page and the program they placed me in was only taking 3 people off the wait list, and so my number came up for that and I haven't even been on the list for a year yet.

So if you are wanting to do the associates route, you probably won't have to wait very long anyways.

Thanks for the info!!!!

What I was trying to explain is actually different then what you see on the placements page. For example, SCC takes 90 students in block 1. The placement page currently shows 56 openings, with 45 for public. The 34 that are missing are for CEP students. The 11 non public spots are for people who work for a hospital and got in that way. That 45 public spaces did not decrease after CEP placement. That is what I was trying to explain. So the number of public spots you see before placements starts will not decrease after CEP gets placed. Those spots have already been removed from the pool. This is because CEP actually gets placed the semester before their placement run. So their spots are never in the wait pool to begin with. I only explain this so people dont think that the number of public spots shown will decrease before placement starts. It actually works opposite as it usually increases by a few spaces after the first placement run due to people dropping from the CEP track or the hospital affiliated track.

Exactly, we're all explaining the same thing just in different words lol

Okay, that clears things up. It was a bit confusing for me. Thanks for the information!!

Lol. That's nice. Well now it's just extra explained. Haha.

Hello,

I am new to this forum but just had a quick question that maybe you guys could help me with. I am only able to attend one of the night or weekend Maricopa Nursing programs due to work and family. Do any of you know if the wait list is substantially longer for these specific programs and if so do you know about how many more semesters out the wait is for a night or weekend program only?

Thanks in advanced for any input! :)

My time stamp is from August 2014, and I was just placed last week into the Glendale evening/weekend program to start for fall. So to answer your question, yes you'll have limited options which could increase your wait but probably won't by much.
