Hi everyone!
Im currently attending a community college in California and have been working on my pre-req to get admitted into the nursing program. However, with only classes left, my parents decided to move to AZ, which looks like it will happen before this year ends. With that said, im really nervous with regards to the waitlist in the Maricopa Nursing program. I see a lot of old posts stating that most people waited 2 years. Is that still the average wait? I also cam across the CEP program and my concern is how competitive it is. I currently have a 3.0 GPA and with my remaining pre-reqs and co-reqs i could bring it up a few more points, but i doubt it would go above 3.4. What was your wait time for the non-CEP? What was your HESI score and GPA upon getting admitted into CEP? Also, any problems with getting a clearance card and what was the reason why you, or anyone you know, werent able to gain clearance? Im so nervous for this move and im feeling like i wont have a shot. My last resort if not getting accepted into CEP is just waiting, which brings me to my last question, what did you guys do during that wait time? Thanks in advance!

If you call the competitive entry program, they might be able to give you an idea off what their cut off typically is. They'll also be able to advise you how to best improve your chances if they need improving.

Hello!!! The CEP program is highly competitive...but it depends upon individual campuses as some each campus has a different number of spots available vs number of possible applicants received. As for the wait list on the traditional RN program, expect to wait at least 2 years. I am currently on the "normal" wait list, and after speaking with an advisor, am expected to be possibly placed for a Fall 2018 start!!!! I have been on the traditional wait list since august of 2016. With that said, I will be submitting my CEP application in October, so tentatively could start in the summer if that goes well. I would suggest reading and re-reading the Maricopa nursing website, as it is constantly changing. Up until this semester, the CEP program used to allow applicants with few in process courses. Moving forward, they are requiring all coursework be completed before submitting the app. I will stop rambling now, but if you wold like some more info, feel free to ask. Good luck in the process!!
