Does anyone know of an actual USCIS source which tracks the number of remaining green cards of the 50,000? I want to find out how many are left.

Does the 50,000 represent past applicants that are in que, or is there a surplus for new applicants?

is it safe for the applicants who filed the petition last year to catch the 50k ?

thank you very much!

so lets say if i am still to take the nclex on may and i passed.. together with the ielts.. is still still safe to file by then or will i be affected by all of this fear of exhausting the 50K visas?

thanks for the info..

You should not have any problems, if the visas get used up it won't be until the 4th quarter of this year. At least that is the expected time, but none of us have crystal balls and the US doesn't release these statistics. It is only a calculated guess.

Actually their (immigration lawyers) sources are from the DOS Visa Office. The DOS Visa Office was the one that supplied them the news that Schedule A visas based on their calculations would be exhausted by the first quarter of the fiscal year 2007.

Actually there are pending bills in the Senate. Let's just pray that those bills get passed.

Again, those are sources, and in the US, everyone has sources everywhere. But until it is actually put out by US Immigration, that is all that it is, a source that cannot be proven. Notice that there are no names of the sources listed either.

NCLEX, CGFNS, All English Exams time frames has nothing to do at all with the immigration process. Although passing these exams are the requirements to start the greencard process, applying at them doesn't do anything or preserve anything. If visas for Schedule A you will be facing almost 5 years of backlog depending which country you were born.

If the DOS Visa Office predicted that these Schedule A visas will be gone by the first quarter of fiscal year 2007 and then only those waiting for Packet 4 on these dates will be accomodated. If your papers are still waiting at the USCIS to be adjudicated you better start to worry because chances are history will repeat itself.

It doesn't matter too if you have a tourist visa because if Schedule A rans out, you will not be able to adjust status. Chances are you will take the risk of getting "OUT OF STATUS" or going back to your home country.

The solution to this matter is a comprehensive immigration reform. There are bills currently pending in the U.S. Congress that would give relief to all Employment Based applicant and possible eliminating retrogression.

Please check www.shusterman.com for information about the pending bills in congreess and what you can do.

I also endorse www.ImmigrationVoice.ORG it is a non-profit organization whose primary objective is to eliminate backlog and retrogression for all EB applicants through lobbying efforts for pending bills in the congress to be passed. Please check out this site and help.

By the way STILL_DALE endorses this site. Check out murthy forums.
