i am planning to become a cna and then after about a year continuing on to become an rn or maybe lpn. are other people considering a similar career path? i think i'll be more comfortable getting some training and experience beforne going to nursing school. it seems lees intimidating this way. anyone else doing this too?

raises hand im in ive been doing it for 2 years now getting my BSN good luck to you all

Make sure you don't wait to long to go back to school. I'm am a prime example. I have been an aide for almost 25 yrs !! That's right !! I love it but always wanted to be a nurse. I hope to be accepted in to the class of 10' but it has been hard going to school at this time in my life. I have always put my family first. Now it's time for me !! Go to school now before you get caught up in life !! It would have been alot easier if I went when I was younger. As they say you live at learn.

I am a respiratory care major, and I love it!! I decided to get my CNA last winter so I could have a steady job while I'm in school. It is a lot of work, but I don't regret it because it is also very rewarding. Before I started college I also thought about majoring in surgical technology or radiography.

Where I live the market is saturated with LPN's. Most that go to school for that are just trying to "leapfrog" into an RN program. LPN's get first seats over non-nurses so it works out better for them. Plus, on my floor the nurse leader will hire techs who become LPN's straight onto the floor.

I don't know about you guys, but where I live CNA's make good money in comparison to many of the other jobs out there. Nursing school isn't cheap, so its a pretty good option.

a side question: Where I'm from LPN's are pretty much being eliminated. Is it the same for everyone else? I just keep hearing people talking about going for it, and we really only have rn programs around here.

I heard, from a Nursing Advisor, a current LPN and a current RN that LPN's will be eliminated and it's becoming more and more difficult to come across CNA positions. In addition, the new grad RNs with out a job post on here are outstanding. Good luck to all.
