mandatory commitment to the USPHS?

are there any X number of years required for commitment to the USPHS? i might try this route and test to see if i like it or not, but dont want to be locked for x number of years

They should take both into consideration to base you rank on. Its hard to tell, I'm hoping to make O3 with over 4 years experience and about 4 years in the military. I'm right now speeding up the process due to me being offered a job on MON!!!! This is so exciting!

Thanks so much for your reply. Good luck on Monday. I have found this website to be extremely helpful and more informative that speaking to recruiters. I'm sure I will have more questions as I go through the process, at leat I know now it can take 2-6 months to become active. Anymore general application tips would be great.

For COSTEPs I think the commitment is 2 days for every day that you are a COSTEP.
