Hello everyone,
In 3 weeks my peers and I (1st semester rn students) will be switching over to carrying two patients. Right now we do total patient care, including administering meds (no IVs though). I thought it would be a good idea to get some tips on managing double patient loads as well as getting those careplans done while still getting some sleep.
I will compile all of your tips and send them to my clinical group (12 people).
Clinicals are going fine now, but in our unit they have 3 hours of therapy, usually in 1 hr blocks that begin at 0900. We start at 0600. The problems I think we will encounter most are administering AM meds to both our patients and getting the assessment and VS done prior to that.
Do you think we are expected to give all meds? Do you let CNAs start doing more?
Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much. Enjoy your spring break :) :redpinkhe
