Has anyone ever hear of a nurse manager type of test that hospitals use before they hire managers?

I know that lots of hospitals and other healthcare employers use some type of "personality profile" test on potential employees (I've taken a few of those in my time) -- there are a bunch of them available to employers. I don't know about any specific to management, since I have no experience with applying for management positions, but I imagine they're available and some employers use them.

When I was interviewing for a mgt position, the staff doing the interviews gave me a variety of 'scenarios' that I would then have to answer and justify the answers. Some were rather tough. They all sounded like they came from a test of some sort.

My employer uses scenario based questions. Questions to the effect of "So, tell me a time when you had a disgruntled employer, how you handled that situation." They use a lot of situation based questions.
I'm talking about a formal paper-and-pencil (or, more commonly now, on-line) multiple choice "test" with questions that had little or nothing to do with the job in question, but designed to evaluate/measure elements of your personality and character. I've encountered at least a couple employers that give these to all applicants, so I'm sure that there are a lot more "out there" that use them.
Thanks everyone who responded!
Elpark- Thank you so much. This is exactly the type of test I am talking about:) This was my first time hearing about such test.
