Manager of multiple units

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

I received a call today for an interview later this week. The manager also mentioned that she will be interviewing for another unit, to which I have applied, in a few weeks. The latter is the unit that interests me most of the two. However, I don't want to turn down an opportunity to work on the first unit. I would also be working with my old clinical instructor, who recommended me for the job, so that would be nice. Neither of these positions is in OB, which is ultimately where I want to be at some point, but of course, both open that door with the acute care experience, and the hospital has OB.

How would you suggest approaching this all when I interview? Of course I'll leave out my desire for OB, but as far as the two units the manager oversees...

I have another interview in the morning for a per diem position in my desired area of nursing, but outside of the hospital (free-standing birth center). I don't think I could do both positions, because the per diem position has 24 hour shifts, and the two hospital jobs are both full time (and I believe 8 hour shifts).

I'm just trying to sort out what to do if somehow I am offered that job and one of the hospital positions.

The manager obviously realizes you have applied for both positions or she wouldnt have mentioned it. When you go to the interview, keep an open mind. They may be feeling you out to see which you are more interested in.
