I appreciate the reply. Hopefully opportunities for more managerial positions open up in the future even though
I am by no means a seasoned nurse at this point. I did not want to have a long lapse between degrees because I
feel the need to continue on so long as the momentum of finances and family support allow. I've noticed a few post
MSN practicioner certification courses lately for after this degree as well. Thanks for the encouragement and I plan to
"go get em".
One thing I haven't noticed is many openings for managerial options. What are some examples of these? How would one
start to gain experience in these areas?

This is a great route for you if you are committed to a path in nursing leadership. Qualified nursing leaders are going to be in demand, no matter what happens in healthcare overall. Do you also have practical experience in nursing management? If not, I would advise you to do so. As we say in research, the MSN is "necessary but not sufficient" to make those moves up the career ladder, you'll also need a work history of increasing levels of resonsiblity. Certification is more important in the early stages of your career, because it is a way of demonstrating your mastery of essential knowledge. In later years, your work history will do this for you.
Go get 'em!
