Dominican Missions
Good evening, I am heading up a medical component of a missions trip to Haitian villages in the Dominican. As an RN, what I am able to do to help these people medically. I am not going in as some savior to treat all these peoples problems. I am aware that 7 days is such a small amount of time and education (I will have my own interpreter) is probably the best I can do. Again though, what am I allowed to do as an RN with a MSN in education? I have a background in EMS, cardiac, ER, ICU. Thank you, CJ

Current VA RN Here To Provide Assistance
I'm sorry for starting this thread and stealing your glory. It is difficult to try and help people here I guess.

Please explain how I said I was a one-stop shop for answers. I don't have time to "hang out" browsing posts. Who has time for that?! If anyone has any questions ask me.

VA Boarding of BSN Nurse with 10 years experience
If anyone needs any assistance about the VA, let me know. If I am banned for providing assistance, so be it. This is a good lesson in what applying to the VA is like. :)

I wasn't falsely inflating since I was forwarding back to a link where I could provide further help... Is this website run by the Democratic party BTW? Ha.

Because the rule that says I must have 15 posts before replying to PMs means that I had to quickly reach 15 posts or not reply to these messages for a while. Didn't mean to waste anyone's time, ESPECIALLY the people who are asking me questions through PM.

Honestly, the better question might be, how does a policy that says a member must have 15 posts before they can reply to PMs help the people that have PM me. These people were waiting on replies so the quickest method of getting to 15 posts and without wasting everyone's time is to do this.

Once hired into the VA the boarding process has a pretty stringent timeframe but what is so stressful about the initial boarding and hiring process is that no specific timeframe exists. Nothing is wrong with calling HR frequently with questions about the current status. They usually do not update you frequently and you might get lost in the pile. Keep your name at the top by bugging them ever so often. I wouldn't hesitate to go and see them in person to put a face with the information or lack thereof. Ask away.

I was very jaded by the application process for getting hired into the VA. I can provide some knowledge and information about becoming employed and working for the VA. Ask here or PM me.

Online Survey Options
Good afternoon, I am working on a MSN in Education Capstone project concerning preoperative education processes. The roadblock I am running into is finding a route to survey registered nurses concerning their experiences. In actuality I am only needing a small amount of data for this project 10-30 nurses answering 5-10 questions. Where I work (VA) obtaining permission for this just is not feasible. An online option is exactly what I am after as it could be accomplished very quickly. Would anyone here have firsthand experience to recommend a service online or a point of contact? My wife is recovering from brain surgery at the moment and I have 3 weeks off of work to recover her and work on this in the meantime. Sincerely, Joel Thomas Texas
