This is a question for all nurses who's currently on probation. We're you able to obtain malpractice insurance while on probation? Or were you able to get it after completing probation? I'm looking to start RN school & im finishing up probation but I'm afraid that I won't be able to obtain the Liability Insurance through NSO.

Interesting question. I was able to obtain insurance as a 'student' when I took my RN refresher course. I didn't yet have my license back, needed the 96 hours of clinical to do that and the school required insurance.
I also just applied for NSO insurance and haven't been denied. I now have my license back. What would also be interesting would be to find out if people with encumbered licenses have a higher premium.

I’ve never carried my own Liability Insurance. I’ve always worked in hospitals so have never seen the need. In my roughly 15 years of working, I’ve been subpoenaed once on a case and it was from the state that was prosecuting the person that had shot my patient. They had subpoenaed every name in the chart and then excused them when it was determined that they had no helpful information.
Of course, now that I have this public stuff on my license, should I consider it?
