For the Male RN's do you find it hard to get jobs? Are there any departments that are easier or harder to get into being a male?

OB and L&D are the only departments I've heard that sometimes give men trouble when job hunting. Personally, I work in NICU/PICU/ER and have met no resistance when job seeking. ICU and ER are the most male-predominant nnursing areas. The ER I work in probably is about 40% male. Good Luck!

I just got hired and that was a question I asked. I was told that sex plays no role. My boss if female and she said they have 200# 6ft guys who can't lift a feather, and 5ft 100# ladies who can pull their weight plus some. She said that can't be a factor because of legalities, but also ethics, and just plain "that's life". I think secretly males are desirable in this field, but nobody can come straight out and say it. Just my opinion!

Some old fashioned patients can't get beyond the image a nurse in a white nurse uniform, but for everyone else... hell a lot of my patients love me and prefer a guy
