I posted under the male nurse threads but I decided here might actually be a better place for this. I moved to the Nashville area back in December so my wife could stay close to her family. I love the area and truly love the working conditions here. My big struggle, though, has been that after 9 months here I still really don't know anyone other than my wife's friends. Being a male nurse and working nights has only made that even harder. I guess I'm just looking for a little support and maybe some other guys to just hang out with who understand the challenges of being male nurse. If you work in the Nashville area, please reply.

I'm neither a male nor in Nashville, but...I used to live in Nashville.
Where are you working? I remember working with a number of male nurses at Vandy. Opportunities for male bonding in a female-dominated workplace are limited, I know. Good luck!

Hey I'm a guy and me and my wife are moving to Nashville (hendersonville) in May of 2008.
Where do you work and what specialty?
I am currently working at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin TN. I work cardiac telemetry at the moment but hope in about a year to move to either ER or Peds. I like the hospital I am at, but the cost of living in this area is very high so I forsee us moving elsewhere in the Nashville area before too long.

try psych, male nurses tend to like that area
I work in ER and will most likely be in ER or TRAUMA ICU when I move out there

I am a male nurse myself. I work in Vandy and do Peds. I also do PRN at centennial whenever I am free. Not very many males in Nursing and I feel you big time.

I am a nursing student (in AL), although I have lived in Nashville on and off for several years. While there is a lot that I miss about Nashville, there's also a lot that I don't miss. Anyway, feel free to PM me if you have any questions about things to do in town and that sort of thing. I'm sure you've become familiar with the area after 9 months, though.
