hi guys !! :welcome:
well im just new here and a 3rd yr
nursing student from phils and im wondering if all nursing constitutions in other countries implement this kind of rule the rule is clean hair cut well i have some problem dealing with that you know im in a democratic country but i cant' express myself. well i have no choice but to abide the rules of the school
and ethics of nursing practice here in phils. im just curious guys ! tnx for the advance comments
As a software engineer for 20 years, I have been accepted with my long hair, beard and earring (I realize that having just one earring these days is a fashion faux pas, but the hassle and infection I got from that one piercing precluded me from wanting to do the other ear!). I did my first clinical rotation at the unit where I now work as a PCA, so the nurse director had already met me and seen my work ethic so the hair wasn't an issue. I wear it back in a ponytail when working, and my beard is closely cropped and neat. Other nurses have tattoos and whatnot and nobody has a problem with that either.
In nursing school, I was the only guy with braids although there were others with dreadlocks..my instructors didnt have any problem with it..I didnt have any problem getting hired for my summer externship either so i dont think it would be a problem when i go for a real interview. I've seen male nurses with long hair in the hospital so i dont think this is a big issue although i realize that some employers would rather hire someone with short hair.

In my opinion, being a male nurse here is the same as being a female nurse in that the job responsibilities are the same. To be a nurse here, you would have contact the board of nursing in the state where you would like to take the Nclex-RN exam to obtain your license. Salary depends on several factors such as your degree, the state where you live etc. You can find review books (eg saunders comprensive review book) on amazon.com or on ebay.
I had longer hair and my teachers were always making a fuss about it so i shaved it into like a 1 all around and 2 in the middle. Commonly called the mohawk and brought the school manual saying that hair had to be short and well kept. They accepted it but didn't like it. Schools do the absolute best at trying to impose any and all little rules, and the longer you are there the more they decide to add its ridiculous.

this is really a big thing in the nursing school in the philippines!!
if ur hair is about 4 inches or longer, they will definitely send you home, you are not allowed to attend classes and youll be reprimanded by the professor or DEan...
i knew this coz my hair was almost down to my hair before entering college but i was forced to have it cut because of the "school policy".
