Hey Everyone,
Long time lurker here!
I made a promise to myself. The only way that I will ever make an Allnurses account, is when I apply to nursing school. Well, that time has finally arrived, and I just finished submitting my application to the City Colleges of Chicago School of Nursing. I clicked on that submit button like a boss!
Good luck to everyone who applied.
Hi! I have not taken the TEAS. I just got an email yesterday from the nursing program coordinator stating i didn't have all my transcripts submitted when i went in person and handed them my missing transcripts. I'm baffled that they lost it already. I emailed them stating i watched the registrar scan in my transcripts so i'm waiting on a reply. If they did lose it, what disorganization! Its annoying! So as of now, I'm still waiting on them to tell me when i can take the TEAS because you can't take it until they tell you to. I sure did! I took Chem up north at Truman with Rachel Bokens??? Something like that. She was awesome!! She had an accent but the class wasn't too hard, mind you i studied hours on end for this class because it was hard! I took math at university so thank goodness i didn't have to take that again haha. I'm going for my RN because if you go for your LPN, you have to wait and work for a year before applying to the RN program (from what they told me), so it would be a 3 year process. I just wanna get in and get out haha. So i'd suggest doing your RN right away if you can! And no prob! Ask away! :)
OMG! Hopefully you don't have to go through a lot of disorganization further out! That sounds too annoying ugh... My thing is I didn't take my CNA course bc I was unaware of it. I transferred from Triton College bc I don't reside near there and tuition for out of district was way too much for me. So now I have to think about the LPN program even though I prefer to do the RN program... Yes, I was told the same but when I read it on the nursing program page, it says 6 months... So I definitely need to be sure about that. Thank you for getting back to me! I try to come on here as much as I can but work and classes have me everywhere lol. I will look into that instructor for Chem! Thank you!
This happened to me when I applied in 2016! I was sent a denial letter & the reasoning was I didn't take the math & English class. I took them at a different school & submitted my transcripts in person a month before (& got a receipt) so when I went to the registrar & he said I never submitted my transcript I showed him the receipt. Then he said my classes didn't transfer. I showed him on the transfer website the college recommends we use that the classes DO transfer & about 30 minutes later I received an acceptance letter. You have to advocate for yourself in this program. Don't take the first or even the second NO as final. Look at the student guide, keep receipts, and stay organized yourself & you will be successful. I am in my final semester and I'm happy I went through the program. It saved me so much money & I've met some incredible people along the way. Good luck everyone.
Oh wow that is crazy!! But that is a good point, i'm going to save ALL my receipts haha. I just got an email stating i can take the TEAS exam. Once i have that, i should hopefully find out if i get accepted! Also, congrats on being almost done!! I know this is a relative question, but is it a hard program, say any harder than maybe human anatomy? I'm psyching myself out trying to figure out how the program is and if my chances of success are high - if i study and stay on top of things of course. Good luck! Oh also, do you have a job lined up? I'm always curious as to whether or not i'll be able to get a job in a hospital with an AA degree or not. Thanks! :)

Hi! I just got done reading some comments and was reading how crazy it was to register for classes and what not. How was the first year of nursing school? Was it disorganized? I'm applying for Fall 2018. I just saw they opened a new cohort for Spring 2018 but can't apply because my rent is outrageously expensive right now. Is the program fairly organized? Has there been alot of students failing or dropping out during the first year? Any tips for me for next year?
Thanks!
