Malcolm X College ADN Program - Fall 2025 Applicants: Let's Connect!

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm applying to the ADN program at Malcolm X College for Fall 2025, and I thought it would be helpful to start a thread to connect with other students who are applying as well. I'm currently working on completing my medical requirements through CastleBranch and preparing to take the ATI TEAS exam soon. I'd love to hear where everyone else is in the process and if you have any tips or advice to share. I've also been wondering what factors really help candidates stand out during the admissions process. For example, does having healthcare experience—like working as a CNA or medical assistant—make a big difference in how applications are evaluated? Or, does being bilingual help strengthen your application and increase your chances of getting in?

If you've already applied or been accepted in the past, it would be great to hear what you think helped your application stand out. For those of you who are still working on your requirements, feel free to share what you've completed so far and how you're preparing for the TEAS exam.

Let's use this thread to support each other and share insights as we work through the application process. I'm excited to hear from everyone and hope we can all navigate this journey together. Good luck to all future nurses applying for Fall 2025!

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to update that I'll be applying for the Spring 2026 semester instead. I won't be able to complete my CNA license before the deadline on April 22. I started this process super late because I hadn't seriously considered applying nursing school until February of this year, so it's okay. I thought I'd have enough time to get everything in place since I had already completed the pre-reqs for my previous degree, and was getting ready to take the TEAS early April. Needless to say, I'm bummed! Just bad timing. I am curious to hear if/when you guys get accepted though! :)

Finished my application a few days ago. Anyone know how many seats for the LPN program?

Hey all, I'm also planning on applying to the program for fall 2025 but I checked the ATI TEAS website and it says all the seats are full---- does this mean I won't have a chance to take the exam before the deadline.

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience applying to the Malcolm X Nursing Program and offer some insight to those going through the process.

I originally applied for the Spring semester with a 4.0 GPA, all my medical documentation completed on time, and a very high TEAS score, but I wasn't accepted. After reviewing what might have held me back, I believe it was the timing of my TEAS exam—I took it on the last possible date, and I've learned that priority is often given to students who complete everything earlier.

Now, I'm reapplying for the Fall semester with everything done ahead of time, and my application status shows "Visible Candidate" for the ADN program. I'm hoping for a better outcome this time around. I applied for PN AND ADN with ADN being my preferred option. I'll accept either one and bridge with the LPN if I'm offered a seat.

Yes. That's what it means unfortunately. It's sucks that they don't allow you to take the exam at other sites.

Damn, that sucks. Sorry that happened. Do you remember if your status changed to 'Visible Candidate' right after you passed the TEAS, or did it never change at all?

Yes. it changed to viable candidate after the TEAS. I honestly feel like the whole viable candidate status just confirms that you have everything submitted, but not an actual guarantee of consideration. I think the main factor is the time when applying then TEAS, GPA, completion of prerequisites plus co-requisites then medical documentation.

When I went to the info session I asked" if a student completed the co-requisite( microbio 223 bio 226/7) do you get an advantage over other applicants who have not ?” and she told me they only look at if you completed the 4 prerequisites. They don't take into consideration if you completed other classes . But my aunt who graduated from the ADN strongly recommended to take those three core reqs so I'm conflicted.

Yes. I agree with your aunt. Even if they're not looking for whether or not you took 226/7 & 233 as a deciding factor for admission. I think it's best to get those out the way, so you can just focus on the actual program material (fundamentals etc.,) and not having to deal with those 2-3 extra classes.

Thank you for sharing! I was in a very similar situation. There is a lot of uncertainty about what goes into the decision, but it seems like applying early is helpful.

I was wondering if you or anyone that has applied for LPN program has been marked as a viable candidate? I applied for both ADN and LPN. The ADN is marked as viable but not the LPN.

My LPN is still not marked viable. I even emailed them.

Same for me. Only ADN is marked viable.
