Malcolm X College ADN Program - Fall 2025 Applicants: Let's Connect!

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm applying to the ADN program at Malcolm X College for Fall 2025, and I thought it would be helpful to start a thread to connect with other students who are applying as well. I'm currently working on completing my medical requirements through CastleBranch and preparing to take the ATI TEAS exam soon. I'd love to hear where everyone else is in the process and if you have any tips or advice to share. I've also been wondering what factors really help candidates stand out during the admissions process. For example, does having healthcare experience—like working as a CNA or medical assistant—make a big difference in how applications are evaluated? Or, does being bilingual help strengthen your application and increase your chances of getting in?

If you've already applied or been accepted in the past, it would be great to hear what you think helped your application stand out. For those of you who are still working on your requirements, feel free to share what you've completed so far and how you're preparing for the TEAS exam.

Let's use this thread to support each other and share insights as we work through the application process. I'm excited to hear from everyone and hope we can all navigate this journey together. Good luck to all future nurses applying for Fall 2025!

Hi!
I'm Mick :) I'm hoping to apply to the Fall 2025 session as well but I think the deadline is pretty early — sometime in April.

I have a lot to do still! I hold a previous B.S. in Kinesiology from UIUC, so my prereqs are all completed, but I'm planning on taking the co-requisite courses over the Summer (all of which I have taken but are one year expired *big sigh*).

I also can't tell if they require a CNA license to apply but it seems that way? If that's the case I'll be completing that ASAP.

I've never taken the TEAS but I imagine it'll be very similar to the ACT? Do you have any insight on that/how much time we should allocate to study for it?

Do you know more about their health and vaccination requirements? I couldn't find a ton of information on the general website.

Thanks for making this forum!!

Hi, My name is Shani! I'll be applying to the program also, I have one more prerequisite and also working on taking the ATI TEAS. I heard it's a hassle but hopefully we all make it in and get thru the program.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, one of the requirements is to have a CNA license. If you don't have one, check out Malcolm X College, they offer a basic certificate course.About the TEAS, I haven't taken it yet, but I'm planning to by the end of March since I need more time to study. I'm currently using the Mometrix TEAS prep book for studying. How about you? Have you registered for the exam yet?

For health requirements, I just created a CastleBranch account a few days ago and uploaded my immunization records. Did you receive the Nursing Application Packet email? It explains all the medical requirements in detail

Hey Shani! Have you registered for the exam? I'm very nervous about it. What materials are you using to study?

Hey!

Yeah! I'll either do the CNA course at Malcolm X or Nirvana Institute — the price ends up being similar after cost of books, uniform, fees, etc. Ideally I'd like to do it at Malcolm X but I have yet for someone to get back to me about signing up. Having a similar issue regarding the regular nursing program as well — their admin seems to be pretty slow. I haven't received that application packet for the same reasons, even though I've formally applied to and been accepted into the general college. Any advice there? I've reached out to multiple people and had my transcripts sent for review and still nothing 😕

I still have to schedule an exam and do prep for that — I wish I had more input! There's a chance I'll be applying for their Spring semester because I started this process a bit late, but I really want to take a swing in case I get waitlisted!

Did you just create your Castlebranch account on your own accord or did you need approval from admin?

Thanks so much for the help! 🙂

Hey.. I've been studying but getting discouraged by the comments and expectations people are putting on the TEAS. They are making it seem rocket science when I know it might not be or will it be it's confusing! But I've been studying the recommend YouTube videos.

Hey! Don't fret about the TEAS. It's pretty basic from what I understand, and the scores were required to get are super achievable! I know people who only studied for a month or so and did very well. You got it! 🙂

Yes! I keep saying that the scores are basic and achievable, but when it comes to test my mind goes blank!. I have been studying so I will be taking it on the 10 of march..I'll let you know how I do. But also I went to nirvana for free try to look into the wioa program if you don't wanna pay for it.

Hi everyone, do anyone knows roughly how many applicants they accept per semester?

Hi girl!
I honestly have no idea, but I know it varies year to year depending on available staff and resources. It's a popular program because it's the only community college that offers a nursing program in the city proper, so I imagine it's pretty competitive.

Hey! I attended the info session a while ago but if I remember correctly, they accept around 60 students
