Malcolm X -City Colleges of Chicago School of Nursing Spring 2024 ADN

Published

I didn't see a thread for this yet so I am going to go ahead and create one. This thread is for those applying to the Malcolm X ADN program for Spring 2024 (December 2025 graduation date).

I myself graduated with my ADN in December 2022 from MXC, but my significant other is in the application process for the program right now.

There is a Nursing info session at 2 today. Does anyone know the link for it? I don't know where to find it

The nursing info sessions are held in person and not online I went to one in October nothing to miss out on just about the application process and requirements. Yesterdays session was sold out but held in person.. I still have not got any welcome packets yet . Going to email them soon LOL I cannot be waiting especially because the holidays are coming and they will be closed. Any updates ? And do we purchase all the books listed for nursing 101???

Hello, any updates on welcome letter? Plus is anyone here an LPN Bridge or know of anyone who is?

Hi, they did send out welcome letters stating not to take any drug tests until January 1st with a deadline of January 8th. It's also two mandatory in person, on campus meetings everyone must attend on January 9th & 10th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. I'm a bridge student, all bridge students are only allowed to enroll in Nursing 102 section BD. I wasn't able to self-enroll like they say, I had to get an advisor to get me in after a seat was offered via the student portal. However, there can be other bridge students who self-enrolled with no problem.

I was able to self enroll after contacting someone from the department for a permission number. It seems like it's taking quite a while for BD section to fill up. Have you heard anything about the bridge program and how many students are usually accepted a semester. Also, are LPN bridge students going to be enrolling a separate course every semester or do we eventually combine with the current students taking the same course?

Honestly, it may not be as many LPN bridge students. I think there are more traditional RN students and traditional LPN students in general. Plus, the LPN bridge classs section is exclusive and all of us either need a permission code or advisor to enroll so that can be why the numbers are smaller. I know the lab/clinical section I'm in is almost full, it can only accept 6 students max. The thing I don't know is, if we need to enroll in a specific class every semester for the rest of the program. I don't see why they have us doing it like this now but I guess we'll find out. The only thing I'm concerned about now is affording all these books they want us to have for class.

If they don't fill up the the seats for the lpn bridge now, I would think they would just combine us with the current RN students but who knows we might just be separated all semesters. For the books, it says a ton of things are required on the bookstore. I just don't know whether to wait till the first day of class or start now?

The portal is closed for system maintence until Christmas so IDK if the LPN bridge class section has increased in number as of lately. I have been shopping for the books off of Amazon, cause I don't have a book voucher. That access code we need for med surg is $320 dollars so I'm sure that's the most important one and it has to be purchased new.

Quick question, so the scrub color is navy blue for all students correct? both LPN and ADN.

I can for sure say navy for ADN, can't say for LPN. I thought I read somewhere LPN might have been a different, brighter blue.

Did everyone get their TB and drug screening done? I'm so mad at myself, I got both at the clinic this week and thought I was good THEN realized there's the drug screening code and we have to go to LabCorp. They're not open until Monday now, I work a 12 hr shift that day but I'm hoping I can sneak away. At the very least I have a negative drug test from this week but I'm still worried I'm out of compliance. I tried so hard to have everything in order but castle branch confused me with the other "drug screening" incomplete on my to-do list!

Specializes in LPN.

Hi, anyone here doing LPN bridge into Nur 102 for this coming fall 2024? I completed everything and my application status went from applied to viable candidate. I just completed the LPN there in December.

Has anyone been able to register for classes?
