Hi there,
I was wondering whether anyone has had to do make up units in order to meet requirements for the CGFNS in the United States, and if so, did you have the option of doing these in your home country or
must they be undertaken in the United States.
Is it a straight forward process or does it cause a big delay to the whole process.
In particular, would love to hear from any Aussie nurses who had obtained licensing in the United Stateswith or without having to do make up units.
Cheers,
Damien

this is happening more frequently especially with UK nurses. Unfortunately in the UK most struggle to find courses as it needs to cover both theory and practical and a recognised course. May be done in the US if you can find a school nursing willing to accept you as a guest student justfor the required courses but you will then need to sort out finance etc.
Suzanne may be along shortly to offer other advice

The course work will need to be made up. It can be done actually in any country that has an approved school of nursing, that is the only requirement. In any of these programs you could enroll as a guest student.
It can not be done with you volunteering at a facility in that area, or just provately with an instructor, as it needs to appear on a transcript. Meaning that it needs to be sanctioned by the school.
