Makati medical center- cetn 2012

Hello, my fellow Filipino Nurses!

I'd like to talk about the CETN program in Makati Medical Center.

Last September, I was advised by a friend of mine who is currently a staff nurse in MMC, that they are already open for application for the CETN.

CETN is a training program for nurses who would like to work in MMC. This is NOT a direct hire post. Accepted applicants will go through 2-month training and then eventually, they COULD be absorbed/ hired as a staff.

This has been an on-going program in MMC for years now, but the difference this year, is that the nurses who get accepted will no longer pay the fee of 10,000 PHP.

The process that I went through started with submitting basic credentials like TOR, Board Certificate, and of course, your updated resume. They will screen the applicants from there, based on their board rating I guess, and the school you graduated from makes a big difference. You will be instructed to wait for their call, for usually 2 weeks.

In my case, they called within the week from my submission. I submitted my credentials on a Tuesday; they called me Friday that same week to invite me to come for the exam. The exam was scheduled the next Monday.

After the exam, you will undergo the initial interview. Mine was set 2 days after the exam which was a Wednesday. The initial interview consists of basic questions about yourself, your educational and work background (if any) and there are some personal questions too.

They instructed me to undergo medical examination that same day, and gave me a list of requirements to complete.

I completed the medical exam about 2 weeks after the initial interview. MEDICAL EXAM FOR CETN IS FREE. IT IS COVERED BY MMC. Should you withdraw your application though, they would require you to pay.

I was instructed to wait for a call/ text from HR regarding the schedule of my final interview; they texted 2 weeks after the completion of my medical exam.

The final interview went smoothly; it was a one on one encounter, not the usual panel interview. It lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were about nursing knowledge. They would evaluate how much you have retained and of course your application of that knowledge. Most of the questions were situational.

They called to inform me that I passed the final interview 2 weeks later. And asked me to wait for another call, as a go-signal to pass the requirements they asked me to complete earlier in the process. They also mentioned that the training would probably start in the first quarter of next year (2013), 2nd quarter would be the latest.

I asked a few questions, by the way, on that last conversation with HR. I asked whether we would be given an allowance or any compensation during training, how long the training would last and the probability and duration after training of getting hired.

They couldn't give me an exact answer regarding the allowance or compensation during training because they haven't finalized everything yet. The training would last 2 months and eventual hiring would depend on your performance and vacancies. All these would be evaluated first. According to my friend though, it will only take a week after training then they would call you right away for employment.

That was my experience. I'm still waiting now, they said they would probably call on the first week of January.

Please feel free to comment! I would appreciate more input regarding this. The forum I was following is already closed and I don't have any more resources. If you have any intel regarding the CETN program, please, please comment!

Hello guys! What is the probability of getting called for an interview if you have above 80% board rating but has a diploma from a not so prominent school? Thanks in advance!

it could be lower, compared to those nurses who have above 80% board rating and have diplomas from the top 3 schools. and there are a lot of applicants like that since it is Makati Med with its JCI and all you are eyeing. but you should still try, there's no harm in trying

I have a friend and she's not from a known school but her board rating is above 80%. Yet, she is called by the hr. :)

It's not on your school where you graduated. The chances to be called for an interview is how you do well on your exams. I graduated from a not prominent school but have above 80% board rating but they called me for an interview.

I just finished my medical exam last monday. And now I'm waiting for the text of hr to pass my remaining requirements. I'm worried because some of my co-applicant had receive their text already. :( I wished they will text me already.

Hi BlueLagoon! I am also having a problem getting cleared in my medical. They referred me to a hematologist and was diagnosed with mild thalassemia. My hematologist told me not to worry about my condition and gave me a clearance. But the EHC said that I should repeat my cbc after 1 month after taking iron supplements prescribed by my hematologist. After 1 month, i visited my hematologist and she is quite shocked because I am wasn't cleared at this time. She explained to me that nothing will change, I will be anemic forever. So she is wndering why the EHC requested for another cbc knowing that my hemoglobin will be forever low. Huhuhuhu. I am taking folic acid as my maintenance. Then I went to EHC and passed my latest cbc. they told me that the head will have her final evaluation on my case. I called the HR and asked for the results, they told me to wait for a call or text. Dunno what to do next :/ I spent almost 10k :((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

We have the same experience lalasemia. In my case they referred me both to endocrinologist and nephrologist because they found some traces of sugar in my urine. I spent almost 10k for the combine diagnostic test and lab works that I have to do to be cleared. They both provide me clearance. I passed the clearance to EHC and also told me that they will need it for final evaluation. When I went to HR to ask them regarding the status of my application, they told me that the results of my medical is not acceptable regarding their criteria. I was really devastated. :(

Guys last time I passed my application at MMC, the HR personnel informs me that they are only accepting female applicants. Although they accept my papers but then informs me that it will take them 5-6 months before accepting male applicants. What's the status now of the other male applicants please inform us thanks.

Hello. I'm included in the latest batch of training program in mmc. I have 7 male co-trainee. And as far as I know other area still need male nurse especially in er, operating nurse etc. :)

I passed my application from about 3 months now and based on this thread, my qualifications should suffice but the again no calls or text until now :(. I guess there are much more criteria that they consider about picking their applicants. But i will not lose hope, i will still pass another application. Just keep pushing forward.

Hi everyone! I'd just like to know if anyone of you knows if the COPN program terminates participants who came late for the orientation week?

Hi all, I stumbled upon this thread just now. My advice, if you do get the chance to train in MMC (or other JCI accredited hospitals), take it. My friends who applied for jobs overseas (Singapore, Quatar, Dubai, etc) were all prioritized by agencies after they met the qualifications. You will have a hard time at first, but nothing beats having st luke's/mmc/tmc on your resume. And just be patient. I come from a reputable school and my board rating is 83, but it took about 6 months of endlessly applying wherever I could before I got hired (this was back in 2009). I didnt get hired in the small private and government hospitals that were hiring at that time and was at my wit's end when the offer from mmc, slmc, and cardinal came.

And I'm not so sure about the grade criteria but there were 7 of us in my batch when we entered, one has a board rating of 77, and one scored 75. Theyre from chinese gen and tua. Before I left I had probees from Metropolitan, wcc, slu, ust.
