Hi all!
I was wondering if anyone has registered to take their HESI in the fall and are planning to apply to Macomb's nursing program for the 2013 admission cycle!?
Let me know!
So, I guess I'll be the first to comment after the orientation. I have to say I'm freaking out much more now!! From telling us that working while in the program is very difficult (I HAVE to work), to mandatory health insurance (cheapest I can find is $100/mo for super basic coverage with extremely high deductible), to continuously stressing how advantageous it is to get a job in a hospital now (I wanted to jump out of my seat and scream for them to help me get that job then because after 2+ years of applying I have not had one single interview).
Also, I found it quite odd that it was stressed that we must purchase our uniforms in the bookstore, considering the ones sold there are Landau brand, which are sold at most scrub stores (cheaper), annnnnnddddd the used uniforms being sold were the old style Dove brand.
Anyhow, maybe I'm just freaking out because I'm probably going to be an August start and it's starting to dawn on me just how soon that is and even though I've been preparing for this for over 2 years, I'm suddenly feeling incredibly unprepared.
I'd really like to get a head start on the immunizations/titers/etc. to take some of the stress out of it since I have to pay out of pocket for all and I don't want to have to do them all right before starting, but I don't remember if they said anything about waiting for a form or something they'll send beforehand? Can anyone shed some light on that?
Oh, if anyone's interested, medisave.net has free engraving on stethoscopes and they have a 10% off coupon (FBCRAZY13). You can get the Littmann Classic II SE for only $65.69.
@Ms.Pebbles just so you feel a little better, I will be working two jobs while in the program. A grand total of 40 hours a week. I HAVE to work to pay my rent and bills. It's just something we will have to do! It will be that much harder but it will be so worth it! From what I understood at the orientation we will be getting the physical form to take to the doctor, but everything else you can start getting now! I am anticipating an August\october start and it does not seem like soon enough for me! I am getting a loan to help pay for school while I'm in the program.
