MA SARP

Published

Hi All,

Is anyone here in the MA SARP program? I’m wondering about other’s experience working while in SARP, and colleague relationships given some of the license restrictions such as inability to administer narcotic medications. How has this impacted your work environment?

Thanks!

Yes, must have 1 full year of employment

Thank you all for your SARP comments and insights. I too am a MA nurse participating in SARP since 2019. There is a new nurse peer support group for nurses with a hx of SUD and/or nurses participating in a monitoring program such as SARP. This group meets virtually on zoom for peer support. The meetings are free and confidential, just have to contact them for the meeting information. Here is the website https://mapsn.org/

Thanks for the link and support - since 2019?  You are almost done with the program then?

I have petitioned for discharge, waiting to hear back (fingers crossed).

Got it, good luck to you!   They've switched here to having an end date when you finish  the program - monitoring, etc.   Usually 5 years long

@Universe93B, where is "here" for you? What state?

SC - as in SCRPP

It is interesting how these programs differ significantly from state to state. I was chatting with a nurse in recovery from Wisconsin and when compared to SARP, there are many differences.

You're right - why can't these programs be standardized?   And they actually market themselves as evidence-based.

Most all of the monitoring programs for  physicians don't differ that much from state to state.   I'm not sure for PAs, optometrists, dentists, but I'm sure it's better than dumb BON.
Pilots are super standardized

Hello everyone,

I know this is an old thread, but I hope someone is still watching it. Does anyone know if working in dialysis counts towards the 1 year required to work for the program?

Has anyone had luck with also doing acute psych to count towards those?

If neither of the two, what other specialties may count toward the agreement stipulations?

Thanks in advance, and I hope everyone is doing well.

RNigotthis, it is my understanding that you have to be passing medication in some capacity for the year to count

@Nitti978 thank you very much for this information. I was wondering if you knew that when you are allowed to work, does your license status change from "non-disciplinary restriction" to "non-disciplinary condition"? Thank you for your advice.
