Yea mine did but without a whole lot of detail. So a possible employer is going to have to read it. Thats why it's best be up front with them in an interview as difficult as that is. After I had the interview, the manager proceeding to hire me really had little interest in the consent agreement as she knew I was in the program and able to work as per the BON. The whole process getting back to work was really difficult even after I was offered the position. After I started working, everything went really smooth for the most part.

Yea, that's correct. When you start working it will change from "restrictions" to "conditions" and then when out of the program will go to "current" And will be case closed, so should be no way any person or employer would be able to know that you were in the program.

Yea, if you give medications it will count. Literally any position that requires med pass will count. Could be vaccines, vitamins, whatever. But in the quarterly reports, SARP will ask your supervisor if you pass meds. Doesn't really matter which kinds. You can do outpatient clinics, urgent care, inpatient whatever. I am not sure about dialysis to be honest. Maybe you give some antiemetics? Just be sure you are passing meds and your supervisor will check the little box that you have been on the reports.

I agree with you. However, based on similar experience, one there is any suspicion, the only thing to do is submit to the drug test. Otherwise it is considered a positive. A positive drug test requires that they make a complaint and that the nurse enter SARP. My guess is that if you just wait for the investigation to play out it could be years before she gets admitted into SARP The program has been dysfunctional and it's a state run program making it inherently disorganized. Getting a lawyer to help fight this could help, I really don't know.

Sorry did you say she was in SARP now or unable to get in as of yet? Either way, from my understanding, to refuse a drug test is treated the same as a positive result. A positive test would require her to enter into SARP and will be the only way she can get back to work and then eventually get the complaint removed. The program itself is extremely rigid and its policies very black and white. If there is anything that is up for interpretation they will interpret it negatively toward the nurse. It is unfortunate but any therapy or treatment done outside the program will mean nothing. Once in the program. If everything is done correctly she will be eligible to work in 6 months and be out of the program in 3 years. Believe it or not it has actually gotten better since I entered the program, initially the person working in there did not know the policies and seemingly make things up as he went along. I'm glad your wife has done well with treatment and has been sober and if she is able to continue with the success she will get through SARP.

Many clinics don't give controlled substances. If they do it's few and far between and you could just manage with someone else giving them for 1st 6 months. Other than that maybe dialysis

Wow I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. And Honestly since I have started working again, the fear of getting pulled out of work for a false positive or dilute has left me really anxious for the time following me giving the sample until the results are posted (which takes almost 2 weeks). I think the common theme with this program is that it is really disorganized and poorly run, which results in added stress to people who already suffer with mental illness. I had a dilute result some time ago and it was during the same time that I had a job offer. They wouldn't approve the position and then had me wait to be heard from SAREC and the BORN. That was during the Summer so I guess all of those members were on vacation or something so the hearing kept getting pushed back by a month because they couldn't get enough members to show up and make a decision, so I wasn't able to accept the position because the employer stated they couldn't wait that long. I haven't had any issues since I've started working and I'm just hoping that I'll cruise along until the end of this 3 years which will be late next year. They have a couple of new people working in there now so maybe they'll know the policies better than they guy who I have been dealing with, who is always vague about everything because I don't think he knows what's going on.

It happened for me before I was working so it didn't really make a difference. Are you working now? I'm not sure what they will do if you fail. Maybe just extend your time in the program, hard to say.

The same thing happened to me actually. I passed the peth and they took no action but they still considered it a violation so I had to wait an extra month before I was eligible to work again. How much did you drink? It takes a pretty heavy amount of drinking to fail a peth. If you just slipped up once you'll be fine.

See this is where things get confusing. How does SARP know if you give meds or not? It was explained to me by SARP staff that giving any meds at all would be good enough to then move on to the next stage of privileges and then discharge from the program. When I got a job I didn’t have to prove that I was going to be giving medications. I really think that the SARP staff does not know their own policies and it’s likely that they make things up as they go along.

Hello, I’ve been working for a few months now since being in SARP. They make the process for getting the job extremely stressful and you really have to keep on them to be sure they are doing what they have to do to approve it. It took me almost 2 months from the time I got the job offer until I actually started. The SARP staff won’t email with anyone they want faxes or through the mail documents from HR. There are a lot of conditions that SARP says need to be in place but I think they will eventually approve the position as long as it’s a somewhat normal nursing job. The job itself has been fine. No real need to tell the people you work with unless you have to have them give your controlled meds. This whole program is bogus in my opinion.
