i am 22 and currently a medical assistant. i am looking to become a lpn and eventually an rn. i am looking at schooling in indianapolis since the wait is so long in colorado springs. people have been telling me that it is not worth it, but i think maybe it is. i currently make 12.00/hr after completing just 8 months of schooling. will it be worth the 17 months of schooling to become an lpn or just a waste of money and time?
thanx!!!

IMHO I would go straight for the RN.

I went from an MA to LPN and to me it was worth it! I have more options available to me as far as jobs go and can make more money working out of a clinic than what I do working in the clinic. I went back to nursing school for the knowledge. You will learn critical thinking skills, which is not taught in MA school. You will learn how to insert an NG tube, how to start and IV and hang meds. You will learn how to care for a tracheostomy and so much more than you learned in MA school. Knowledge is worth its weight in gold, so I say go for it, you will not be disappointed.
