Does anyone know if there is need for LVN in the area of plastic surgery, day surgeries etc. I live in Fort Worth, Texas and would greatly appreciate any info anyone could give....

I do know that plastic surgeons hire medical assistants to work in their medical offices, though I have never heard of LVNs being hired in plastic surgery. Naturally, it is cheaper for doctors to hire MAs...

While living in California and doing my clinical rotations in the Los Angeles area, I noticed that LVNs were hired in the operating room as surgical scrub technicians who assisted the surgeon. This was in the hospital setting, not a doctor's office.

My mother who was an LVN worked for a plastic surgeon in Palm Springs. He had a large condomium where he sent his surgery patients for recovery. Her job consisted of administering pain medication and seeing to it that they kept cold packs on the surgical sites. It was a cake job, except for the occassional prima dona patient. Mostly, the patients needed a place to hide out while they were in so much pain and didn't want people to see them all bruised up. He also had a couple of LVNs who assisted him as scrub nurses during surgery as he did it in his office
