Hi everyone!
I just want to ask if you're LVN graduate and trying to pursue as RN do you have to take all the pre req for RN and how long would it take? Do you have to take the 2yr course for RN eventhoug your LVN? Some advices please...
Thanks!!

:welcome:Hi,
I am an LVN. I applied to the RN transitional program for October. It is a one year upgrade program. Being that you have taken your prereq..such as AP1 and AP2, Micro, Sociology, HG&D, Eng1&2...etc...I have all of them out of the way finally...took me forever it seems..hope this helps you some.take care

Yes, I have to take all prerequisites even though I am an LVN.
LVNs who wish to become RNs must complete an LVN-to-RN bridge program, which is typically 1 year in duration. You do not have to take the 2-year RN program, because your LVN licensure enables you to bypass the first year of many RN programs.

Hi,
If your LPN program had you take college credit pre-reqs you might not have much to do. I only had Eng 102 which I clep'd, statistics and a humanities class to take. Our bridge program was 8 weeks during the summer, mostly independent study which was very nice. I start this fall with the second year RN students and have just 2 semesters until I can sit for my RN boards, fingers crossed.
Check out local CCs for their requirements. Good luck, Jules

Hey thanks for the info! by the way, i just started my LVN program this semester so maybe in 2 yrs i will get my license (hoping though). But the probelem is, i took my Anatomy on 2003 so it will be over 5 yrs by the time i apply for the RN bridge. my question is, would that be credited when i pursue my RN or i have to take it again because i took it 5 yrs ago? Thanks again!!
I'd fight that 5 year rule. My A&P2 is over 20 years old and several colleges were willing to take it since my A&P2 is current and I got an A. One thing that I have found in the Academic Arena is that most everything is negotiable if you can word it to satisfy their concerns and find the person who has the authority to waive requirements. Good luck.

Hello,
I also have a question. I have my bachelors in Art from a university, and I just graduated from an LVN program (certificate). I'm looking into going on with my AS RN degree at a local community college. However, I still need to complete my pre-reqs. But I do have a ton of my GE done from when I had my bachelors. I'm just wondering if anyone has been in the same boat and how long it took you. I'm thinking since I'm already and LVN with my bachelors, it should take LESS time than if I didn't have my bachelors. Thoughts? feedback? opinions?
Thanks!
