LVN to RN prereq stump, confusion

if you were once an LVN and took a bridge program to RN, then youd probably be able to answer my question hopefully

if i become an LVN and bridge to an RN, do i have to do all of the school pre reqs for their RN program?

sounds like a dumb question, but please hear me out

for instance, ive done:

English 1A

Math (passed the req level)

Sociology

and then lets say i went to the LVN program and completed it...

Mount SAC. pre req for the RN program is

1. Human Anatomy,

2. Human Physiology

3. Microbiology

4. English 1A

which means all i have to do is:

Chemistry

Microbiology

(anat and phys are covered in LVN program)

to enter the RN program for my ADN?

RCC pre req for RN program is

1. anat and phys 2a

2. anat and phys 2b

3. Microbiology

4. English 1a

5. sociology (or anthropology)

6. psychology

7. speech 1 or 9

8. political science

9. Humanities course (any)

10.Analytical Thinking course (any from selection)

which means all i have to do is:

chem

micro

psy

speech

political science

humanities

analytical thiking

to enter the RN program for my ADN?

OR, scratching all of that, because im already an LVN, i dont have to take political science or any of those for RCC and only have to complete my micro just like in Mount Sac?

im mainly confused on the fact that ADN is a degree and mount sac's requirements seems like i can do that in like 2 semesters where RCC seems like a year

please correct any mistakes i have made and give your personal or experienced opinion. Please if you can, help me clear this up, it will help me a lot, thank you

You'll have to ask your school for the specific information about your case. That's the safest way to make sure.

Not all colleges have the same requirements for degrees. You'll find the same thing if you go on for a BSN at some point. Both colleges require a certain number of credit hours from anyone who wants to earn an associate's, plus you have to do whatever your major requires. RCC must have distribution requirements, while the other school must not. Of course, cover your bases and check with the school before you make any decisions.

Our program accepts LPN's and they are expected to complete the exact same pre-recs as we are, with just as high as a gpa. Many LPN A&P's are not as in depth as the ones required for the RN programs so I would definitely ask the school whether those credits would transfer. Good Luck!

A lot of my prereqs were taken by my school. I now have to take microbiology, a humanities elective (music, or art), psychology, human growth and development, and speech. After that I am able to apply for the program. The school accepted my English 101, anat/physio 1&2, nursing math. I wasn't much that was accepted but at least I don't have to take all those classes because I would have been very discouraged. I am also glad they offer mini terms which last about 5 weeks.

You state that you had anatomy and physiology in LVN school. Unless these were bona fide community college courses, you most likely will have to repeat them. Very few colleges accept any transfer credits from courses done in trade schools.
