I am not aware of any private school$$$. What have you been doing to let your prerequisites expire?

What prerequisites expire? I find it hard to believe all three sciences expire at the same time.

Have you tried applying anywhere?

As for Community Colleges, most applications for Fall 2010 had to be submitted by now. LBCC was Jan. 29, Rio Hondo was Mar. 1 and Golden West (GWC), Mar 31. The problem with LVN to RN is that each community college has different rules and some prerequisite tweaks. You really need to look at all the different schools to see what needs to be completed. Unfortunately, there are many hoops to jump through for the LVN to ADN program. Before applying at some colleges you need to take courses that they require.

LBCC - A computer competency class like COMIS1

GWC - Pharmacology (Psych Life Span/Growth & Development)

El Camino - Nursing 48 and a challenge test

Cerritos - I believe they require nursing transition courses prior to applying

LA Harbor - Requires two short courses prior to application.

That's all that come to mind. It is worth checking it out yourself to validate what I have checked into myself. BTW most LVN to RN programs start in the Fall(ex. Cypress, GWC, Rio Hondo). After acceptance the college requires a summer only transition course.

For those looking to bridge LVN to RN, the route really needs to be planned out. I feel you must determine your primary and secondary choices for a college and work toward prerequisite goals.

My original goal was Cypress College, Fall 2010. However, they changed the application times from twice a year to once a year. Thus, I was unable to apply this Spring for Fall. My second choice was LBCC for Fall 2010. I missed a requirement. I was also looking at GWC but LVN to RN requires Pharmacology. I stumbled on Rio Hondo. I applied and was accepted. I took the TEAS test. Passed the TEAS. However, I found out that Rio Hondo is not NLN accredited. Now, I am looking to apply for Spring 2011 at LBCC. I will be able to apply at Cypress and GWC for Fall 2011 if I do not make it into LBCC.

Sorry for the lengthy posting. I wish you the best in your educational goals.

prvrbs35, what about saddleback? what's their requirment? good to know that you know most of what colleges what.

CAwant2be,

I recommend checking out the college web page ( http://www.saddleback.edu/hs/rn/ )for information. I have spent many hours going through the local college web pages to determine what each one requires. I'm a LVN looking for ADN. I have an AA Degree in a different field of study. My requirements are different from a entry level RN student. I wish the nursing requirements were standardized. I only glanced at Saddleback once. I do not live near South OC. The commute would be horrendous for me.

I wish you well in your educational goals.

Hey, awesome info!

Lets say I want to apply to GWC. I have all of my pre-reqs done... Anat, phys, micro and all the other gen eds such as english math, speech etc etc.

You said they also need a Psychology class... So my question is, am I able to apply to GWC , and get accepted into the program, BEFORE that child development psych class is done? Like.. am I able to take the psych class DURING nursing school? Most likely during summer or so. Is that possible?

i'm in the same boat with u got all my preq done in 2006 but got all c! i had lots of money issues was working full time i m now a lvn don;t know where to do went to they want me to take biochem ! i never taken any chemistry whcih means i have to take the previous classes before i get to biochem and that takes two semester by that time my preq will be expired i seriously need helpppppppppppppppppppp

Do you mind me asking what version of the TEAS Long Beach accepts because on their website it says version 5.0 only and I am curious if this is what they accept or what they administer. Thanks for the help.
