I considered El Centro for a while until I saw that at least 33 credit hours of prerequisites had to be completed before consideration. That's ridiculous. I could travel to an outlying school such as North Central Texas College (Gainesville) or Tarleton State (Stephenville) for a shorter LVN-to-RN program with fewer prerequisite classes. In addition, Tarleton State's program leads to a BSN in only 1.5 years.

Hi guys. I am currently in an ASN programme in a lesser known school in the Philippines. Do you think it matters if i want to work in a hospital in the US? Or what is important is that i pass the NCLEX?

You have to have 54 hours of prerequisites completed before you can apply at Tarleton LVN to BSN program . Now it is not hard to get in once you have done this but it still is 4 semesters of nursing courses plus they were talking about adding a short summer session while I was there. Your total prerequisite classes still are 64 hours , algebra included which is what stopped me in my tracks. I was admitted but failed algebra and cant go until I pass this dumb class. Once you figure it up it really is not any shorter than going through a generic BSN program. If I remember right there was only a few RN classes I got to by-pass as a LVN, but they subsituted thoses with transition courses of some sort. I didnt care I was just glad to get in somewhere. Oh my Gosh and the drive 55 miles one way.. it doesnt seem far if you are determined but I have no air conditioner....lol.:wink2:
and they still require algebra right!!! I called and ask if they would take chem instead ,you would have thought I had ask them to commit a felony by accepting my chem in place of algebra!!!!
Thanks! I only need two more prereqs, So I should be well on my way by then.. but im still going to attend Concorde if they let me in, and bridge over, even though I almost have enough to apply for RN school. Thanks alot!
