It takes much longer for IENs as they must more in depth review international credentials as well as ensure the "alternate entry" minimum requirements are met. Plus the backlog is even greater with the high volume influx of IEN candidates who were denied by CABRN for a variety of reasons. With the high amount of fraudulent documentation recently discovered (and prosecuted as well as license revocation) CA BRN & CA BVNPT are more carefully inspecting all international documentation submitted.
A candidate who graduated from a US school of practical/ vocational nursing will process much quicker, the fastest being a graduate of a a CA vocational nursing program (as the CA programs automatically submit graduation documents directly to the BVNPT). Local & other US graduates are processed in a month or two, transfers from CABRN are taking 6-9 months or more. I hear they are almost 11 months behind now.
What if i did not ask the CABRN to transfer my documents from their office? i mean i would submit all my requirements directly to the BVNPT?, will it take time?, i heard that you can ask the CABRN to transfer your documents from them if you pay $30 i think?, 11 months is way too long..[/quote']
Doesn't matter. It's the fact that 1. You are internationally educated and 2. You are using an alternate education route ( not a graduate of a US school of practical or vocational nursing) that are causing the processing delays. Someone posted that they are working on applications received February 2013 (I'm not sure what date they are processing now).
It's the volume of applications and a small analyst/investigations team charged with reviewing all international & alternate credentials that is causing the delay; not whether documents are transferred from CABRN or the school.
The documents must be re-evaluated by BVNPT per regulations as the qualifications are not the same plus additional documentation is needed for BVNPT.

Hi everyone, i'm wondering how long does it takes the BVNPT to process my application if i would submit it to them this December, does it really takes approximately 6 months?, according to what i heard from others BVNPT usually really takes time to process the application papers.
Do they also require hospital experience?, I'm planning to take the LVN route because of the concurrency issue with the cases regarding the CA BON,
