Hello, I was wondering if there were any LVNs or RNs on here who have or have had a probationary license? I got a dui back in 2013. Since then I've completed everthing i needed and closed my DUI case. I did everything but was denied my license in 2014 since im still on probation until June 2016. It's been a year since I graduated nursing school and I am currently in the process of submitting a request for a probationary license. I was said I had to create a cover letter explaining what happen? As well as submit character letters. Deadline is approaching and I only have 1more week and so far I've gotten a character letter from the main instructor at the school I attended, 2 employees ive worked for (ive only worked with 2) &1 personal one. Is that enough? Also, should I get a substance abuse review so prove that I do not have an alcoho addiction? This is my first and only conviction. I'd like to hear experiences from other nurses who have been through this same dilemma.

I am not sure I would get too involved in what happened, and take direction from your attorney as well as your probation officer on how to proceed.
Best wishes

Hello and thank you for answering. I do not have an attorney and I do not plan on seeking one I've hear and have been told that an attorny wasnt needed for this process... only if I were to face the state boards one on one
We can not give legal advice per AN TOS. I would not make too much of a move without at least discussing this with your probation officer--they can give you some direction as to how to go about things.
And the attorney who assisted you with your DUI proceedings.

Good morning. Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Licensure With a Criminal History forum to augment the chances of receiving responses from others who may have been in your situation.
