Well thats the other issue...the job outlook on both are crap! I see both LVN's and Xray techs saying its impossible to find a job...top that off with the fact that I'm in CA and the outlook is just down right bad. But the way I see it is everyone is hurting for a job so it would be stupid to not go to school simply because there are no jobs now...It won't be this way forever. ( I hope)
So I am in LVN school and my Mom is a long time Radiology technologist, honestly I don't see how the two of them would work well together. If you are going to do an associates program I don't see anything wrong with RT, or possibly looking into an ADN program? I have no idea about the LPT but here's what I am thinking...you are interested in a long term goal of working in psych with pediatrics, so why not go the nursing route, and then you can be a nurse at a childrens hospital possibly work with psychiatric patients there... long term goal?? I have heard that its much easier to bridge from an ADN to BSN than from an LVN to a BSN...which is the trouble I am about to begin in August when I graduate my VN program. Either way good luck! And let us know what you decide!

I was recently accepted into my schools LVN and LPT program (licensed psychiatric technician) so I basically get to choose which program I want (one year program). My ultimate goal is to work in psych with kids so I'm not sure if I should go the LVN route or the LPT route.
The next issue is, I am also on the waiting list for the xray tech program. My plan was to complete my LVN or LPT program and just as I'm finishing up I should be able to go right into the xray tech program. I'm in no rush but in the future I wouldnt mind bridging from LVN/LPT to RN but that will be once I have gotten settled in as a xray tech
I don't know if this is a stretch but I would love to either work part time or per diem in psych as an lvn/lpt and have my full time job be in xray or I am open to doing it opposite.
What do you do when you are torn between two careers. Now if I could do xrays on psych patients that would be a dream lol
