OKay... let me explain.

If I remember correctly, Kaplan is the old Maric?

I took the "PCAT" program there in 2005. That was the biggest mistake of my life as of now. All I got was a "glorified CNA" and 6 years later I am STILL paying off the $12,000 (which is now well over $15,000 due to interest.)

I did go on to become an LVN. I went through the Grossmont Health Occupations prgram and actually recieved the entire program for free. I DO believe becoming an LVN is worth time, money and sacrifice in general. But DO NOT sell yourself short to a school that truly only cares about money. Their school advisors are salesmen. Simple as that. They only care about the sell and have absolutely no interest in your career or schooling. My advisor never again contacted me or returned calls after I signed the first paper.

Being an LVN has changed my life for the better. I make great money, have awesome hours and am on my way to become an RN. Look for other programs. Places like Kaplan should be put out of business for taking advantage of people. Look into Grossmont Health Occ and that community college in South Bay. Please do not sign with Kaplan.

Feel free to contact me with any further questions!

Good Luck!

Thanks a lot Amanda

you know i m not gonna sign for KAPLAN ... yes because i dont have 33000 $

I will wait till the next year and apply for few public colleges

Now i want to start preparing for TEAS...because i don t wanna miss the opportunity of having free LVN education.

Is it right that i should be CNA to be accepted at LVN program?? I think city college offer this program only for CNA

Yes.. most, if not all, LVN programs require you to be a CNA first because you need to be able to do clinicals in the hospital. Are you a CNA now? Where are you currently working?

i am not a nurse yet:( and i don t have any basic health education.

i was a flight attendant in another country, i left last january...i want to do a new career because i have a baby now

i see... check online with nursing homes around your area... many times they offer cheap or free CNA programs. Are you sure nursing is what you want to do?

yes i do want to become a nurse

as a flight attendant i have CPR and i think that the nurse and hostess do have many things in comon...

i still looking for cna classes , but there s no free classes i found class that gonna start jan 22nd it cost 2995 $ at ETI

ETI? that sounds pretty expensive...

I would call all larger nursing homes in your area... also check with Grossmont Health Occ in Santee- 619-596-3690

no, it s not eti,,,here is the email i recieved...if i had 3000 $ i would go for that class

hi ikram,

it was great to speak to you today. as promised, enclosed is the information for our upcoming clinical medical assistant program.

our website is [color=#9900cc][color=#9900cc]www.trainwitheti.com and you can double click the purple [color=#9900cc]> button next to the healthcare career training programs. you will find the [color=#9900cc][color=#9900cc]basic skills assessments at the top of the page; the boston reed resource link under that and the details for clinical medical assistant can be found as you scroll down and then go to the more information button to access the details. i have also enclosed the course outline.

see the flyer below for details on the upcoming classes! the classes will be at midcity campus every saturday at 3792 fairmount avenue, san diego, ca 92105.

the 3 part payment plan which has no interest means:

1. you pay a deposit of $1470 instead of the full amount ($2995) to register and secure your place in the class, and get the opportunity to receive the books

in the mail.

2. your second payment of $800 comes after you have been training for 4 weeks

3. your third and final payment of $800 will be paid after 8 weeks in the class

the only extra payment is $75 in administrative dues but there is no interest attached to this payment plan.

tuition options loan through boston reed college:

call 800-201-1141 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 800-201-1141 end_of_the_skype_highlighting, press "0" for a customer care associate. if you need further assistance please contact tanya brownrigg directly at 707-307-5041 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 707-307-5041 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. you pay a portion up front, and then you pay smaller monthly increments for the life of the program. this loan needs to be current and payments up to date at all times. this loan must be fully paid up before you receive your final certificate of completion.

i am also attaching the ready to register document for your information that will also walk you through the process if you want to apply for the direct to school smart option student loan through sallie mae, but it is probably easier to find loans from your bank at this time.

there will be 3 questions that i can provide from our end:

- boston reed college, california is the school you click from the drop down menu

- [email protected] is what you enter for thecontact at the school

- you may need to create dates depending on when you apply for the loan - e.g. start date january 8, 2011 and the end date one year from the start date january 8, 2012. the actual end date of the classroom portion is march 5, 2011 but there is still the externship that follows for loan. compare interest rates with your bank or credit union to ensure the best rate possible.

once you have reviewed this material, please call (619-388-1251 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 619-388-1251 end_of_the_skype_highlighting) or if you have any further questions. thanks and have a great day,

thank you IBMANDA

Okay.... a Medical Assistant is different than a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant).

An MA is basically a step between CNA and LVN. I do not reccommend going that route. MAs are much more limited in where they work and in order to go through an LVN program, you'd still need to be a CNA..
