LVN job or PCT job??

Published

Hello allnurses,

I have a dilemma for you I graduated LVN school in August, and I took boards in October. I started a BSN program in August, and I should graduate in 2013. I'm having a difficult time finding an LVN job as the holidays are here right now. So I wanted to know if while I'm in school I should try a tech position to hopefully get my foot in the door at a hospital, or continue to look for an LVN job probably in a nursing home. I want to gain some experience as an LVN so that I don't feel like I wasted the last year of my life. I'm very optimistic that at the beginning of the year things will work out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

hmmmm have you tried the local prisons, pay is awesome for lvn

I would keep looking for a position and if not take a PCA position for now,. I graduated LPN school and got hired in a hospital really quick while i waited to take boards, then once i got my license i kept watching for a LPN to open and I got hired right away. Its so important while in RN school to work as a nurse, im learning so much as a nurse that I never would of learned if i stayed a PCA, meds, diseases, nursing care. I'm starting school again in may to finish my last two semesters and I'm so glad im nursing so i can use all this knowledge I'm learning. You don't have to work for a nursing home if you want a hospital position.
