LVN Friend in Distress

Published

So my friend who's an LVN is planning on taking an LVN t0 RN course thats not accredited in california. The school says the program is 1yr but you have to do your clinicals the last yr of the program in the philippines and that you would get your bsn from a school in the philippines as well and they don't say what school either. This can't be true. The school in Long Beach is called RN Learning Center. Please let me know any info about this. I'm helping research this school before she pays $1500 a month.

Thanks in advance for replies...

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Will wait for further input from others but to me doesn't sound right, if only 1 year long and last year you take clinicals in the Philippines it just doesn't make sense

sorry...the clinicals is the last month of the program and the program is 2 years long. She has all of her prereqs to transfer but they wont accept her classes. So I spoke to her again and the school is a distance education program from a university in the philipines...supposedly. They say her paperwork will have the name of the university on it instead of the actual place she's going to which is RN Learning Center, but they are only accredited to do continuing education classes.

Any info on this program is greatly appreciated!

I have never heard of such program that you would finish the last year of clinicals in the Philippines. It is the other way around. There are few schools at the moment which offers BSN not LVN that would let you finish in US on your last year (4th).

If the program is not credited by California, why spend money on it? I'm sure there are other LVN schools. The big question is why can't they be credited when they are operating. Something is behind this.

In essence,

The RN Learning Center is acting as a "middle man" between the student and the school.

By acting as a "midde man" , the RN Learning Center will expect to make a big profit off of the prospect student

Tell your friend to stay away from this program. It is not going to get them accepted to even right the NCLEX-RN exam in the US as it will not get them permission to write the NLE first in your country.

This program does not meet the requirements for US immigration either.

The only one that will be coming out ahead is the owner of the school. Tell her to save her money.

There is not one program that is accredited where they go to the Philippines to complete their clinical training and that counts as a US program. Just not going to happen.
