Hello!

I've applied to the LVN to BSN cohort at National University in SD that begins in January 2013. Anyone else there apply, too? I'm currently waiting for an email so I can take the TEAS.

Yeah its a community college...but atleast I feel so much better going to bed just knowing that I got into a program. All I did wad transfer my transcripts to MSJC and RCC community colleges... They both have awesomw NCLEX pass rates which can be seen on the brn website...AND you can always go back for the BSN it will just take longer..msjc has a program thry cal state san marcos for bsn once you graduate their rn program and RCC has one thru cal state fullerton....OR YOU csn made that darn biomedical stats class worth your 2kdollars and go RN to BSN @ national.

Lots of typos in my previous message sorry! Im using my phone and just got off a 12 hr shift

I really want to go to NU. It's comforting to know that it's accelerated and that we can focus on one class a month. I figure if I don't get in, I'll apply to the Generic Entry BSN program

Generic entry is like 10k more isnt it? Good god thats a lot. My advisor said we also have a 2,400$ orientation fee if we are acceptes...which seems a little crazy

I believe it is $10k more.SDSU also has an orientation fee. Seems like we can't escape that fee. Does the school you got accepted into charge an orientation fee?

Specializes in Surgery.

No! We have pay 400 at orientation and thats for a skills lab kit, uniforms, ati material, and books for the whole program... The classes are free if your a ca resident cuz the bog waiver pays for it and its 2 semesters one class each (medsurg 3 and 4) then ur done

How long is that program? Is it a BSN program? NU says the fee is for the same stuff you mentioned. I wonder why it's so high.

actually its 3 semesters we have to take a "lvn transition class" for 9 weeks in spring then we would jump to 3 and 4th semester rn

U cant get a bsn at a community college only adn

BUT you can get an ADN from a CC then go to any school that offers an RN to BSN for like 8-9 months.............. theres so many differenct ways to get there, time is what is important for me. Id like to finish as quickly as possible. Im ok with this because I have been working in the hospital setting for about 7 years in nursing and feel confident with doing my job with a broader scope of practice...
