Hello,
I have a bachelor's non-nursing degree from foreign country with 2.57 GPA. lives in Southern CA. I am currently a CNA. I really wanted to be a RN; and since I already have a bachelors degree I am thinking of doing the Accelerated bsn route but do you think graduated from foreign country and 2.57 gpa can be a factor in not choosing first to be admitted? Do you think I'd rather take LVN program first and then just do the bridge program to RN??
Thank you.

Most ABSN school require at least a 3.0 to be even looked at. Often applicant pools are very competitive. Lots of time can be invested in pre reqs, applications wait time to apply and to wait for an answer, cost of transcripts, money on applications, and entry exams. Through spending lots of time on all nurses I even believe SOCAL is extremely competitive. I think a lvn program is not a bad route to go due to your circumstances. I have the same situation and I was naive to believe I could get in ABSN programs with such a low GPA in NY. I wasted lots of time and money pursuing an empty road.
thanks for letting me know. At first, I was so happy that I can do the bsn program for only 15-18months. Good thing I did a lot of research before starting to take prerequisites. Now, I don't mind if I cannot use my bachelor's degree;I am willing to start all over again for my dream. Thanks to you,you don't know how much you help me to make a decision.
No worries, I wish I was steered in the right direction a couple of years back. You never know, the bachelors may come in handy somewhere down the line. I'm not sure how credits are transfer from foreign but, you can definitely snag up all those core classes credits: english, math, humanities, etc....when its time to do an lvn to rn bridge program.
