Anyone currently in the program? What were your grades and PAX RN scores? It seems the program is competitive to get into 450 applicants for 150 seats. Id like to know where I need to be to get in.

What is your experience like?

Where do you do clinicals and how do you get the best ones?

If you have graduated from the program where are you currently working and how hard was it to get a job and what is your salary as a new grad?

Several of my coworkers are grads of this program and speak highly of it. I hear the program itself is very competitive to get into, (I heard you need at least a 90 on the entrance exam to be offered a seat.)

In terms of salary, it depends on where you work. All the hospitals in the Wilkes Barre/Scranton area offer the same salary no matter where you graduated from...plus shift differentials.. While bigger hospitals in cities offer more money for Bsn etc.

I am going to be starting my first semester in September for the nursing program at lccc. You need to have a 100 or greater on the PAX. I got a 122. When I applied for this Fall, there were 1850 applicants and only 150 seats so very competitive.

Good luck!!

Thanks! What was your GPA if you don't mind me asking. And what is it that is covered during the one summer class?

Sorry it took me some time to reply. My GPA is 3.2 and the summer course is 1 credit and is 4 classes. 3 hours each class. Covers the nursing handbook, hx of nursing, the women that started the nursing profession and ethical and legal issues. Very easy class.

Cool. I think I should be able to pull a 3.2/3.5 for prerequisites. Now I'm off to study for the PAX RN, I hope I don't get to many physics questions (I've never taken a class) .. I'm struggling to understand what physics has to do with nursing but ok. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Ahhh I got a 150 on the PAX RN!!!! So basically aside from the semester's final grades Im just waiting to hear... here comes the 3 month wait.

When did you find out when you were accepted?

Wow!! That's awesome!! I didn't find out until February. The wait is brutal. Especially if you are taking any classes with other students waiting also. You may hear some get letters, some still waiting and rumors of others being denied. It's tough to wait.

Well at least I'll be busy. With 2 kids, a part time job, and taking both A&P2 and Micro I'll have my hands full and be slightly distracted

I am currently studying at LCCC. I have a bachelor's degree in another area so a few of those classes (psych, math, etc) transferred in. I just finished A&P 1 and other classes. My pax scores are in. Do you guys know if they actually accept you into the program without having A&P2 and Micro done (I am taking those in the spring)? I hear conflicting stories constantly and it seems difficult to get a straight answer. Thank you!! :)
