LTC to Acute Care

Published

I am a fairly new licensed RN, 5 1/2 months. I am currently in LTC, due to needing a job after getting my license. I am not very happy in LTC, I want to work in acute care. I've applied many of times with no success. I would appreciate advice on how to meet my goal of being in acute care.

Specializes in Case Management, ICU, Telemetry.

Just keep trying.

But it be aware that in acute care you will make less money :)

Was that irony?

Specializes in Med/Surg, Rehab.

It took me two and a half years to get from LTC to an acute care position. Keep applying and get all the experience you can soak up in LTC! Most hospitals aren't hiring and if they are, they want you to have a solid base of experience.
