Ltach quincy medical center or PCU morton hospital position. Please help!!!

Published

So I have been an rn for a year now. I stared in a med-surg/tele unit for only 4 months and had to relocate after marriage . For the past 6 months I've worked in a rehab/snf where I basically learned no skills and felt like a nursing home. Today I got two offers one fora day position at radius specialty hospital in quincy medical center massachusets and the other for evening position on the progressive care unit at morton hospital . Here is the dilemma..ltach is day position (my preference) and a friend of mine works there and says she loves it. I really bonded with he nurse manager, and from what I've briefly observed the team seems to work well together. The pcu position is evening shift, forty minutes away , the unit currently has no manager and the hr staffing director says the unit is rough and the team needs some work. Pcu seems somewhat disorganized and I was not allowed the opportunity to our the unit myself. I had a rough start to the beginning of my career and I just want to make the right move for my future. I want to be an icu nurse in the future. Please any advice would be appreciated as far as which way to go. If anyone has further information on taunton hospital in ma would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!! I have 24 hours to decide!!RegardsJ.g.a

I guess I would say take the PCU position. You will have your foot in the door, get some fresh step down pts, as well as know some faces for when you transfer. Pay your dues now and then try for ICU in a year or so. Good luck and congratulations!!

Congrats on the two offers! That's no small feat in MA!

It's a really tough decision. I would go with the offer you feel right about since they will both give you experience that will guide you toward the ICU. I live on the north shore so I don't know anything about those hospitals. You sound like you're leaning toward the LTAC position so I would go with your gut.
