<Information about Touro Nevada>

Published

hi everyone!

i got accepted to touro nevada today and wanted to know if any students/anyone knew any specifics about the program? i.e. class/clinical scheduling, academic work load, curriculum, and is as ridiculously as complicated/difficult as the faculty made it seem during my interview...i have said before that they made it seem way too tough or either really good, i am still not sure which one to go with! i am excited though and interested in any information, which anybody can pass on! i was told about this specific camp thing that they are doing right before the july start, what is that all about? i still have not been told too much info about it from the college.

well thanks for your insights!

I was just wondering how you guys in contact with someone at Touro, i've sent an email and called numerous times and can't seem to get someone to talk to. I'm just trying to get an application to apply. Any suggestions?

Their website has contact-us links that you can click on to email them. If you can't get ahold of someone at the admissions office, they will respond pretty well via email. The lady in admissions to email - her name starts with "G". You can send me a message for more specific info.

I have also had a great deal of difficulty reaching someone in their office. I finally got a copy of the application from a friend because no one would return my calls or E-mails. Kind of disconcerting- hopefully they are more attentive when your paying to go there. Anyways, if you would like me to send you the application I have a copy of it saved in my E-mail account. Let me know!

HI folks,

I just found this thread and was happy to find other people applying to Touro University for Nov. 2010. I have a few questions and if anyone is interested in answering, I'd love to find out a few things.

- I submitted my application through NursingCAS on april 30th, and just heard back from G*d*s last week that all the apps, that have been submitted before the June 30th deadline, where gonna be reviewed this week (1st week in June) and we may hear back mid June. I wonder if this is just a pre-screening or an actual admission into the program. Has anyone else heard anything?

- Where is everyone from? I'm applying from San Francisco, CA

- I applied for the traditional BSN, is that what everyone else is applying for?

- why'd you choose Touro?? I chose it because I like the fact that they look your GPA in your last 60 units, which for me is great, because I'm 37 and already have a bachelors and a career in non-profit for the last 10 years but a HORRIBLE GPA from when I was younger- I didn't have a clue as to how important grades where and really messed up. But now life is a different story, I'm married and have a 2 year old daughter, and really have done a 180 on my prereqs and last 60 units, and have got my "stuff" together.

- I've been to Las Vegas numerous times(because it's such a close flight from sf), but never looked into living there- any suggestions, ( good for a family, safe, and close to the school & hospitals).

Thanks to any and all who respond. Hope that our early admission pays off, and please keep us updated if anyone get's in:)

hey guys! im so glad I ran into this thread because I am definitely thinking about attending Touro University in Las Vegas. I am from San Jose, Ca and I also have family residing in Las Vegas, so relocating for me wouldn't be a problem. The question I have is, how do I apply right away? I've heard from past threads that their office isn't the best with replying back and so I've emailed them to send me an application. While I'm waiting, should I start sending my transcripts to them? (or is that too early). I'll be studying for my TEAS too because I want to get a better score. I've completed all my prereqs @ SJSU and I've been an LVN for 1.5yrs. I am trying to aim for their Nov BSNstart program but realistically, I don't think that will happen considering the deadline for that is end of June and its already the middle of June. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks =)

Hi ii, I applied at NursingCAS, it's a new centalized nursing application system. I filled out the application and sent my transcripts there and was able to complete the whole application in less than a week, but the part that takes awhile is the gpa analysis of your transcripts(by nursingcas). I'd say it's worth a shot! I haven't heard a desicion yet from touro but know they have my application from nursingcas, hope all goes well for you, let me know how it goes , this thread is sort of quiet :-/

best of luck!

Thanks so much for replying back. I am in the middle of completing my application via NursingCAS. But what address did you send your transcripts to? I didn't see an address on their website. Also, are you still going to send an application straight to Touro?

IICHenII- I never sent an application to Touro, G- said she received my application from NursingCAS, she also said that I didn't need to send Touro Anything else until they contacted me about my application status- she said I would have to send them transcripts too(only if I got into the program), which seems like it defeats the purpose of a centralized application process to me, but what ever :) If you go to the FAQ link on NursingCAS and click on

U.S Official Transcripts

  • Q: What is an official transcript (high school and college)?

I was able to find information on where to send the transcripts. Good luck, if you have any questions don't hesitate.

2BJenurse- ok, so i read the FAQ's and read the part where i have to attach a request form to my actual official transcript from my institution. but im still confused as to where i will be asking them to send it to. it says you must mail them to "NursingCAS transcript processing center."....ok where is that? there is no address. am i reading it wrong? er, its very frustrating, gladys isnt answering my phone calls, i just want to get started on this app already.

2bjenurse: after scrounging around those links i found the address in small print. i sent in my app and submitted transcript requests from all my colleges to be sent to nursingCAS. (I also sent copies to Touro). next week i am scheduled to take my TEAS so hopefully all goes well, and everything will be sent on time before the deadlines (for fall or spring). i'll keep you updated for the mean time. do you have an email address?

Glad you were able to get the ball rolling with that application. I just got an email from them today, I'll private message you my email address! Keep me posted :)

Hi everyone! I just got an email that included this:

We have completed the preliminary evaluation of your application. Your application has been submitted to the admission committee for final review and decision.

Anyone else get this or get to the step after this? Let me know! Thanks :)

JackieJane- I just talked with ---- too, and she did say that my application was complete too, but that the Nursing department is on a break and will be back next week to start reviewing the completed applications. She didn't give me a time line, of when we would start to hear back though, but did say that they will be looking at science grades and teas scores specifically for admission into the program. I feel bad for persistantly hounding her, but I'm sure I'm not the only one calling and emailing her :)

thanks for your update, where are you from? is Touro the only place you are applying?

J~
