<Information about Touro Nevada>

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

hi everyone!

i got accepted to touro nevada today and wanted to know if any students/anyone knew any specifics about the program? i.e. class/clinical scheduling, academic work load, curriculum, and is as ridiculously as complicated/difficult as the faculty made it seem during my interview...i have said before that they made it seem way too tough or either really good, i am still not sure which one to go with! i am excited though and interested in any information, which anybody can pass on! i was told about this specific camp thing that they are doing right before the july start, what is that all about? i still have not been told too much info about it from the college.

well thanks for your insights!

I am looking to apply to Touro for the session starting after this spring semester. I would love to see what the scores and numbers that people had that got into the BSN program. Just trying to figure out what I need to be competitive.

Hi Everyone! I also applied to the November BSN class and was told I was on the waitlist. I was told my application would be held and all waitlist candidates would be given a committee interview in December. I followed up with her a few weeks ago and she said that all applications were being reviewed yesterday 12/7/10 and she would notify me today. I heard from her and she said decisions were being released tomorrow and I would receive a decision letter in the mail. I am not real sure if this means good or bad news. I am really nervous because if I dont get in this time I am not sure what I will do.

November....as in starting in Spring '11? If so...best of luck. I'm 1st semester and we're going on week 7 now. It's been up and down but overall, the program is accessible with pretty good professors.

Hi Everyone,

I applied to Touro for the March start date! I just received an email from Gladys a week ago asking if I could repeat the TEAS test. I was surprised at first because when I took the test 5 months ago they said I passed. Anyways I retook the test and now I am told that I will find out on the 21st that will come in the mail. I am starting to feel a little uneasy about it, the program must be pretty competitive if thay are asking me to repeat a test that they said was fine to begin with. Just in case I am going to develope a back up plan because I can not afford to wait until November 2011. Has anyone else recieved emails to repeat there TEAS test? Also has anyone been officially accepted to the March cohort? Any information would be apreciated! Thanks everyone and good luck!! :)

Are you talking about the Nov 11 semester? How are they reviewing and making waitlist when the deadline for apps. isn't for almost 7 month? If you were waitlisted what kinda of GPA did you have and what was your teas score? if you don't mind me asking. I am just wondering if they have a formula or something if they can already waitlist people if they probably haven't received many app. since many apps. will be contigient on this coming spring semester credits.

No I originally applied for the November 2010 class and I was waitlisted for that class. Not one person from the waitlist got into the class, from what I was told. Now I am waiting to hear if I got into the March 2011 class. I think overall I got a 91% in the TEAS, I dont know if that is good or not. I do know I barely made the cut for the GPA and my science classes are old. I was in an RN program in California years ago but "Life" forced me to drop out & I never went back. Basically Touro is my only choice unless I want to retake ALL of my science classes. Everyone knows those are no fun, so no thanks! I was told decisions were released on the 8th but KK4YOU says otherwise. Who knows what is correct.

Oakley44-Congrats on getting in!!! How is the schedule work? days/times? Do you like it overall?

I like it overall. The professors don't communicate well with the admin. and vice versa so the beginning seems rather disorganized but the quality of teaching is pretty solid. It's pretty much 8-9am in the morning until early to mid afternoon Mon-Fri; with the exception that the clinical day (wed or thurs) is from 6:30am - 3:00pm. We use computers for everything but lab; meaning you take notes with and tests using laptops (that the school charges you for). It's worth it if your goal is getting a BSN quickly and for less than private schools in CA.

Good luck. By the way a 91% on the TEAS is great considering the average across all states is like 74%.

Thank you for the info! The program I was in before in California was very difficult and I almost managed to graduate. Every instructor there was awful, so any improvement will be a plus! I just hope I get in.

Hi aowens80,

91% is a great score for the TEAS test! I got an overall of 75% which I am worried about. My GPA is a 3.50 on my sciences, however I am worried about my low TEAS score. I feel she is just throwing out dates for the heck of it. Did she by chance send you an email to repeat anything? If not, I think your good to go :)! Let me know when you get a chance, and good luck! Your almost there....:)

The only email I received from her was her telling me that my application had been reviewed and I would receive an answer in the mail. Decisions were being released Dec. 8th. When I was put on the waitlist for the Nov 2010 class, she emailed me and gave me the news. The suspense is killing me!

Hi aowens80,

Well I think your good to go then, because she sent me an email saying that my application had been reviewed and that she wanted me to repeat the TEAS to have a better chance at getting in. She told me that the review comminttee would be in next on the 20th and she will let me know no later than the 21st since I missed the 10th deadline. Sounds like you should be hearing something this coming week! Good luck to you, and keep us updated! :)

Hi aowens80,

Have you heard anything yet? I should be hearing no later than next Tuesday. The suspense is killing me aswell, I wish I could get an idea if their full or not for the March cohort, but they wont tell me anything. Have they told you if they are full? Just curious cause the deadline was Nov 30th. Good luck to you! :)
