I'm an applicant to the CARE program through LSUHSC and I was wondering if anyone else here is also an applicant or even graduate? I too, like many of the OLOL applicants have set my LIFE around getting into this program. I choose this program over OLOL because I intend to one day go into advanced practice nursing and it seems more feasible to get my BSN in 18 months as opposed to my ADN in one year through OLOL. I have a BA from Tulane.
I was told I'd receive word on acceptance later this month or earlier in May. Anyone with similiar experiences?
I am finishing up some pre-reqs and am trying to determine which nursing school would be the best for me. I have a BS degree and am interested in going the accelerated route to BSN. The LSUHSC website indicates that clinicals and lecture could be held on weekends and evenings. Can someone explain the schedule during the program and where the clinicals take place? Also, does anyone have any idea what the GPA cutoff is for the CARE program?
The GPA cut-off is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Peachy, what changes have been made and will it affect the length of the program? If you could post the new curriculum as soon as possible it would be much appreciated.
Thanks for thinking of me. I actually just finished up my first day of classes and wow things look interesting. Its certainly going to be a challenge. I have been busy. I actually missed the orientation day because it fell right on a weekend where I had to stand in a wedding out of town.
Things so far looking good, I'll keep you updated on how the semester goes.

As a recent graduate of the program I can tell you will be required to present several group/individual oral presentations for various courses - I'd say at least 10 of them.
well I was hoping that was not going to be the answer. How are the presentations, can you give me any general info on them, length, individual or group....etc? I suppose the traditional program has the same requirements too.... No big deal, just was hoping it was more medical learning and not a lot of unnecessary projects.

could you tell me a little more about the projects and presentations required. Are they all group or all individual-what is the usual required format/content, how are the instructors and how are the classes, etc...? Would you recommend the program, and if you are familiar with olol Tulane/EJGH accelerated would you have chosen those over CARE and why. Sorry its so many questions but I would like some advice from someone who has gone through one of these programs, thanks!
I am currently an LSU CARE student. Honestly, the program is very, very fast paced. I read the post from TigerSN and unfortunately, many aspects of the program are still unorganized. So far my experience has been a whirlwind, however I am maintaing good grades and doing very well. My advice is to never, ever fall behind (Although at times it cannot be helped). Students in this program are extremely competitive and I'm sure you'll group up with others to help each other get along and succeed. We all try really hard to help each other. It is hectic, it is life-consuming, it is stressful but it is do-able. Whether or not I'll feel prepared as a nurse remains to be seen. This time next year I'll have finished the program. Good luck with acceptance!! If you need anything, old tests, notes or advice let me know!!

I plan to apply for the LSUHSC CARE program in January. Can anyone give an update on the status of this program? How selective it is? I have a 3.5 from Tulane and I think I interview well. I'm wondering if it might hurt me that I never took any classes from LSU. I'm also wondering how many apply, how many do they accept? And also what other accellerated BSN programs are available in the New Orleans area, if any?
