LSU School of Nursing SPRING 2014 :-)

U.S.A. Louisiana

Hey guys...I started the LSU Fall 2013 Thread and got wait listed ... haven't heard anything back from them except that all their spots are full. So I'm getting ready to apply for their spring semester. For the rest of the folks who got wait listed with me let's get to making things happen for spring! I welcome any advice or pointers. I also went through the whole interview process, if anyone has anything to share or any questions please don't hesitate to post.

You're welcome!

I haven't heard anything about malpractice insurance yet, but we do have to have it by the first day of classes. I imagine they will go over that with us during orientation.

If you want to go ahead and bookmark the page for it - here it is - Insurance Options available through NSO

The policy is $37 ($35 + some $2 fee) and it runs for a calendar year so I would wait until closer to January 1 to do it so it will be valid through the end of the fall 2014 semester.

Omg thank you! T__TT You helped me so much! I'm just a paranoid person so I would like to have everything done and ready. You bring up a very good point on starting at January 1st. I really hope they talk about this at the orientation. (If they don't I'll ask anyway)

I guess I'll wait until orientation. I looked through the process on getting the and it only takes about 10 minutes. (Just hope the processing time for it isn't long. I know in normal insurance they need to review and take a few days to process your application. Here however, we are just starting Nursing students. It's not like we have a background to check...)

The website said it should take one business day to process if you are submitting the malpractice application online or 7-10 days if you choose to print it off and mail it. They may indicate when we should do it during orientation.

I feel like right now the thing that will take the most time is the student health stuff - immunization records, physical, proof of chicken pox immunity by titer, TB test, etc. - just a lot of forms and the last time I had to do something like this my doctor's office took like a week to get it all filled out for me so that may be the best thing to focus on.

Is anyone else planning on living on campus? I am getting a two bedroom apartment with student housing but apparently I have to find my own roommate. If anyone is interested, please let me know!

Also, is anyone currently at LSU-BR and going to the nursing school next semester?

Yep. I'm working on all the health stuff and next Monday (Nov 25TH) I'm going to the CPR class. (If anyone has it after me and have questions, I would be happy to answer.) I'm hoping to have all the paper work and everything done by mid December. (Since the deadline for everything is January 6, including your final transcript.) :)

Wooot! So excited to be going to nursing school. We are going to be nurses. :D

Hey, I know I'm kind of late, but quick question. I would like to know if I do just the prerequisites classes is that fine, or should I take more than the prerequisites class? Im starting school in the spring and I just thought I should ask before I started doing my classes. Im 19, I was doing the whole Lpn thing, but I changed my mind and thought I should go for my main goal. Thanks!!!!!!

Orientation in a week! Anyone else excited? Or is it just me?:roflmao:

Just the prerequisites. If you try to do anything else the school may not accept them and you'll have to retake them. But best advice is to go to one of their information sessions and maybe set up a meeting with an advisor and they can tell you exactly what you need to do. Hope that helps, good luck!

Hello , I have a question if someone can maybe respond . To the people who got accepted into the lsu program, did you guys have a c in any of the pre-reqs? I am wondering how having a c will affect my chances on getting in. I have one C . I'm just wondering . Thanks

I have one C in Sociology and all my other pre-reqs are As. I think you should be fine as long as that one C isn't in Biology or Microbiology or any Bio classes because... well you know why. lol xD

Good luck! ^__^

Orientation is kind of intimidating, huh? ;) Is anyone else commuting from the north shore (I live in Mandeville) and would like to form a study group when classes start? I don't mind meeting on campus either I just feel like it would be easier to have some other north shore people to study with on the weekends, etc.

Hey folks.... an awesome classmate made a Facebook page (not sure if I can put his name on here but he sent everyone an email). Here's the link
