I am in the process of applying to the LSU CARE program (2017). This may seem silly, but I just want to confirm... The HESI isn't necessary for this program, right? I already emailed the appropriate person with this question, and was told to "look over the admission criteria page "very carefully"... No "yes" or "no" answer. I need to confirm to alleviate some of my anxiety!
Thanks:)
I was a double major of psychology and integrative physiology. My over all GPA was just a 3.04. But my science GPA was higher. I tried calling to see what the situation was for the waitlisters, but they didnt answer. All I got was that the director picks whoever she wants when a spot opens. I think in previous years around 75-80 apply and roughly 50-55 are in the actual class size. I am feeling negative about the chances of getting in, unfortunately... BUT you never know you could be first on the waitlist :)
This is how it was explained to me: Everyone is ranked on a list. The first 55 are accepted on the first wave of letters they send out. After March 31st, whoever did not pay the acceptance fee will lose their seat. Around mid-April they'll send out the second wave of letters. If 5 seats open up, then the next 5 people on the list will get acceptance letters.
Yeah thats how I figured it would work. I saw from a previous year that someone was waitlisted and they heard they got the spot like 5 days later. I wonder if they will tell us earlier, since they have been early with everything else. What were your stats if you dont mind me asking? I went to CU, I saw somewhere that LSU students get priority.
I went to the university of new orleans. My pre-req gpa was about 3.5. I majored in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I'm emt-basic certified but never worked as it. Also first-aid and cpr-certified. I currently work for an accountant.
At my essay they told us you can request a visit with them and they'll explain what you can improve on. Hope this helps!
Hey guys! I'm in CARE XVI and I was wondering if letters had gone out yet for the next class, so I popped on over here. I just wanted to tell the waitlisters to stay hopeful. My best friend in the program was waitlisted and got a call that she got in a few weeks before orientation. She is a great student and will be an even better nurse one day. Someone else I know got in, and because of a big change in her life a few days before orientation, she dropped out. They called someone else on the first day of orientation to tell her that she got in. I think a few people in our class were originally waitlisted. Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions!
