The foundations happening on Thurs may be the traditional class. We only had foundations on mon/fri, with clinicals tues/wed. The calendar has the CARE schedule and the traditional schedule on it.

We didn't have phys lab. From what I understand from previous years, if you were in psych you had phys lab on Tuesday and everyone else had Thursday. But we didn't have phys lab at all. Some people work/worked. I have two kids, so no way I could work. You could probably swing it during the first block, but it would be hard during the second block, especially once you have foundations/clinicals/pharm/patho. It's a lot to juggle when you're in clinicals. But again, this is coming from someone with two kids, so my study time is a little more limited than most people.

Hey guys! I'm in CARE XVI and I was wondering if letters had gone out yet for the next class, so I popped on over here. I just wanted to tell the waitlisters to stay hopeful. My best friend in the program was waitlisted and got a call that she got in a few weeks before orientation. She is a great student and will be an even better nurse one day. Someone else I know got in, and because of a big change in her life a few days before orientation, she dropped out. They called someone else on the first day of orientation to tell her that she got in. I think a few people in our class were originally waitlisted. Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions!

If you took courses for your previous degree, those count! I had to take a few extra things because I wasn't a science major, but all of my older stuff transferred just fine.

Yes, if you live in Louisiana you probably should have gotten a letter by now. I finally got mine today, and the ink on the envelope was faded and difficult to read -- I think that's why it took so long. Give them a call!

Update: they emailed it to me and I'm in! Whew!

Y'all. The mail came today and still nothing. I called the school and they confirmed that it was sent to the right address. I cannot deal.

I'm in NOLA and it didn't come today! Ahhhhh COME ON!

Maybe not bad news -- I'm in NOLA and didn't get anything either.

I did, too. But I have a confirmation email from registering for my slot, so I'm guessing everything is OK.

I just found my notes from the info session, which say the class size is 55. Anyone else wondering how the current state budget crisis may affect LSUHSC?

Hi! I applied this week and sent in my check today. I was wondering if someone would start this thread! I think the acceptance rate just depends on how many apply -- I think there is a set number of spots and the number of applicants varies from year to year. At the info session, it sounded like there was a big rush of applicants a few years ago but it's less crazy now. Still competitive, though!

Did anyone from a non-science background use a general biology for non-science majors as part of their general biology prerequisite? Would that be OK? Or does it have to be for science majors?
